Weather Stations? Anyone have one on the farm?

I'm interested in putting a weather station up and wanted to know what you're using. Reviews would be appreciated - good or bad. I'm most interested in one that can do soil and leaf mosture as well as weather. So far, all I've found is a unit from Davis, but I'm not real impressed with the reviews.

I have a Davis VantagePro. Did lots of research before I bought one. There are many cheap rubbish weather stations on the market. The Davis is good. I get the data off it and send it up to my website and all all goes into a database as well.

EDIT: And now I see that the WXforum was referred to in THIS thread by B7510HSD - my apologies for not seeing that earlier! I had incorrectly assumed the 2 links you were showing were sites where I could buy a station. Thanks for the link!

It seems - after visiting the WXForum AND additional recommendations from Davis owners on this board, that the previous nay-sayer I found who slammed the Davis unit wasn't dealing with a full deck to begin with. As such, it looks like a Davis is in my future.

I've got an Oregon Scientific - WMR968. Without checking real close I don't think what I have is quite up to the level of Davis. It works OK but the weather vane and wind speed cups will freeze up in a freezing rain. They do OK in the cold - its +5 deg right now - but freezing rain will lock them up. I've had the unit outside for 5 years now and this is the only negative thing I have to say about the unit.

Wish I could find something between Oregon Scientific/Davis and Weather Hawk. I've tried to locate commercial equipment - like the highway dept uses - but so far no luck. All I need is outside wind speed/direction and outside temps.

I have the Rainwise MK-lll installed on my rural property. Use it to monitor the weather remotely and to give me access to historical weather data (online/downloadable/etc) for my property.

Have had it roughly two years and have had no issues with it.
