What's your ideal snow removal tool?

A tank, pto pump, hydraulic motor some hoses and my 30 + year old "rear" snow blower. Add some DIY and mount the blower up front on the loader............. voila! I am looking forward to going forward................ Warm and cozy dry in the cab with no snow drifting down my neck.............. and I don't have to twist around to run backwards. This is about as simple a fab as one can make it.

I like it.

I got a front mount blower on the Kioti and a cab complete with heat. all I need. No neck strain and I can blow snow all day.

_MG_5488.jpgWell my ultimate snow removal tool would be the ability to pay someone else to do it while i vacationed in Hawaii.

But since I haven't won the Lotto (yet), i guess ill have to settle with my heated cab and loader mounted blower and plow. Ill just have to suffer thru it HEHE

Funny to see this thread come back up.

I had a bit of an apifany the other day. I was all set to go see this 2000 Ranger, reg cab, 4x4, 4.0, auto, 195K with rear frame rot and box rot. $900. I was thinking I'd fix the rust, mild lift, 33" muds... plow truck, building material fetcher, and crappy road get-me-to-worker. Then we got our first snow. Go to start the Jeep and nothing... had to drag out a cord, and charger and boost it. Then the winch wouldn't work... so I had to drag the blade going backwards, and couldn't ramp when I was done pushing. Beyond frustrated I decided then and there; no more trying to make something out of junk. I want less headaches, not more. I'm selling all the projects and this time next year I'll have a brand new Polaris Ranger 900XP with tracks and a good plow (Boss perhaps). I'll build a cab with heat, radio, and wipers... because Polaris wants way too much, and I could do a good job of it. It'll fit nicely in my one car attatched garage... hit the remote door opener and away I go! Can't wait. :)

My kids!

Since they are not reliable, 2nd best is my 54" snowblower.

A couple months ago my son picked up a 98 ranger with 3.0 for cheap, very little rust on that one. With some tweaking here and there it is on the road. The electric motor for the transfer case needed some attention to get it working. In 4x4 the truck is very good in the snow but IMO would not make as good a plow vehicle as my Jeep does. The turning radius is no where near the Jeep and it has torsion bar front suspension. My jeep with a fisher on the front still rocks for moving snow in driveways, being a daily driver means I never have a dead battery.

I use a front mount snowblower and a rear back blade on my tractor, also a snowplow on a Jeep Cherokee.

That will be a cool project! Is it going to be air conditioned too for use during the summer?
