You write as if that article proves the "deniers" are wrong. Any article or publication will cite facts and figures to support its stance on any issue all the while playing down or ignoring evidence/opinions to the contrary. It's what you do when you want to win the debate. Popular Science, even though I like it, is a fluff magazine.

The deniers have every chance, and plenty of money, to prove themselves correct. Do you see any denier backing orgs spending money on that? Does that tell you anything?

Back in the late 1700 through to the 1900's, they actually wanted to throw all the smoke into the air as they could to HELP global warming and create a paradise for mankind. They knew about the greenhouse effect back then and this today is nothing new..

Fixed it for ya. It's a contributing factor but not THE cause by and stretch of the imagination.

Global climate is real and indisputable, etc.

What is not known is exactly how much human pollution has contributed, and how much is part of the normal warming/cooling cycles and time periods that Earth has experienced since birth.

Half the people believe there is no human affect on climate, the other half seem to believe we've doomed ourselves from pollution and are stockpiling ammo and rubber rafts in their basements. Both sides know they are right. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

It's not time to give up and pray for the earth, but we definitely need to continue reducing pollution and making positive impacts such as reforestation. The science is not that complicated, it's when idiots hit the Jump to Conclusions mat that we run into problems.

Agreed.. Climate Change is real.. The cause is in doubt. BUT, reducing pollution and mans impact on his surrounding environment is still a good cause.

Back in the '80's we were heading for a new ice age. Then a global desert. Now, the consensus is 'Climate Change' were some of us will be warmer, some cooler, some dryer, some wetter.

Not the first time it has happened though, and will certainly not be the last. They have evidence that the Sahara was a jungle before and has been a desert before then too..

The warming has not followed the rise in Co2 for the last 15 years, which is what is supposed to be causing the warming. The "scientists" who have the "consensus" predicted every time, that it would. Of course, that in no way means they are wrong. Their conclusion has to be right, man has to be causing this. They just need to find another way to sell it, ahhh, I mean prove it.

There is too much involved here that man doesn't know, or understand. The sooner they all admit that the better.

The Non-Henny Penny's don't really have to spend money to prove anything...nature is proving the point that they are much closer to being proven correct just as fast as the chicken little's theories are being proven to be mostly bunk...

The problem with that is, it's not true. Nature is proving that the effects of greenhouse gases cannot be escaped. If you care to read about the actual work being done, as opposed to reading twisted commentary about the results of that work, you will see a much different picture.

Scientist may differ on the degree of change, or the weight of the various mechanism of change, or the accuracy of a model, but they aren't by any means saying there is no change being caused by humans. And, for all practical purposes, they universally agree more is coming.

The thrust of much of the current research is not "is climate change caused by humans", it is now focusing on how to better predict and deal with the outcome of that change in areas such as agriculture, city planning, habitat preservation and forestry. In other words, global warming induced climate change is a given for those researchers and the commercial interests who fund much of their work.

Deniers have every opportunity to do the basic research that would support their claims. The Koch Bros. and others would gladly pay for it IF they thought there was anything to be found in the science. They aren't doing that because they aren't stupid. They are using the old tactic of when the science is not on your side, attack the science and scientists, and crank up the PR machine to full volume.

Attacking other people's work, and doing your own work that others may comment upon, are two different things entirely. Do you think big tobacco really cared that they were wrong and lied? They may have found or paid some goof ball to say tobacco is good for you, but they never produced any research that backed that up. They were managing a strategic retreat to prolong profit as long as possible. Same thing the fossil fuel people are doing today with climate change.
