L3200
Hi All,
I bought an L3200 with a BH77 Backhoe attached to it earlier in the year. I've had to take it back to the dealership
several times with hydraulic issues (weak cylinders). Everything seems fine now, but I have a question about the
operation of the backhoe. Can the boom cylinder and the dipper cylinder operate at the same time? I didn't know if this was a kubota thing or not, but I don't think I've had this issue with other backhoes. I cannot raise the boom until I release the dipper control. I can only use either one cylinder or the other, not both. It would be nice if I could use both for "skimming" the topsoil off of a septic tank. The guy at the dealership said that is just the way it is. I think they are as tired of me as I am of them. Any help would be very appreciated. I uploaded a picture so you have a better understanding of what I'm talking about.
Thanks Case Backhoe Diag.jpg

The boom and dipper should be able to run somewhat simultaneously. It's a lot easier to be smoother on a large backhoe though.

Ok, thanks for the reply. Thats what I thought. I'm definitely still having problems with the hydraulic system.
Any ideas what the problem could be?

What does your owners manual say? My BX 25 manual says you can do both at the same time and I do it all the time as it saves time to do it while swinging the boom or digging. I now have about 300 HRS on the BH out of 1,000 on the tractor and it has all become second nature, hardly realize I am moving the joy sticks and never look at them, keep my eyes on the hole. If your manual states it like mine use that evidence to make them fix it right. A lot of sales and service folks are not proficient operators and do not really know what their product does in operation. After my warranty expired I raised the HYD pressure to 2000 PSI, sure made a difference in BH response and smoothness. Your dealer shop will tell you no but **** no if you want them to doe it.

I sure don't but there is a lot of handy people here that likely do so just keep checking in on your thread.

Try running the levers slow and in different directions together and see if you get any kind of simultaneous movement at any time. I know if I move the boom lever all the way back it will rob from the dipper and so on. Also try just moving both levers just a tad so one don't rob from the other.

Thanks for your input Ron. I looked for my manual today but I must have misplaced it. I'll try to find it soon and see what it says. I think the guys at the dealership know more about the product they sell than they let on. I think they are just trying to get out of repairing it.

I'm aware that a cylinder will rob some hydraulic flow from another when used together, but the boom will stop dead in its tracks as soon as I ease on the dipper lever.
Thanks

Yeah I'd say their is something wrong with it then.

Okay thanks rmk700
While I got yall here, I have another question for you.
Are you able to move the boom with your bare hands from side to side after the tractor sits overnight. But as soon as you crank the engine, it stiffens back up? This happens with the front end loader bucket too. I can step on the bucket and extend the cylinder, then it will shrink back when I step off.

You definitely have some hydraulic problems. The cylinders do get some slack from sitting but not that fast. The checks in the valves are not 100% tight. The BH will gradually settle down on the out riggers and boom after you disconnect if not supported separate form the cylinders.
