I have a JD 2320 and dont spend much time on the road, but when i have to be Id love to have brighter 'warning' lights. I dont really need the light bars etc others are installing.

On a recent post I saw a link to replacement LED bulbs (same socket type but just LED) but im a little confused.. The warning lights on my 2320 are flashing and can be used turn signals (which i very seldom use).

A seller on Ebay mentioned that you would need a 'resistor' if the bulbs were used as 'turn signals' otherwise they may flash quicker..

Would i need that resistor just to use the flashing warning lights?

thanks

Brian

the seller on ebay is yitamotor - as recommended by someone on here..

If it is a 12v LED bulb then it doesn't need a resistor.
LED's turn on quicker by design. They are not heating up a wire filimant like an incadescent bulb.

So what?

While on the subject - those darn florescent screw in "replacement" bulbs burn out just like the incadescent ones.
I don't see them having much longer a life.

you will need a resistor for the LED bulbs, unless you change out the flasher for an electronic LED compatible unit. regular flashers require the resistance of the bulb to slow the heating of the bi-metal strip inside the flasher, with the LED you have less resistance so the bi-metal heats faster causing the lights to flash faster

I thought that the LED bulb drew so little current that the bi-metal strip would not heat up so it would not flash. I believe the resister goes across the LED, not in series with it, so the current would go thru the resister and allow flasher to work.

Depends on the type of flasher used. Older ones that need the resistance of the bulb to function properly can be replaced with 'solid state' or electronic flashers that won't care if you use LEDs or std filiment bulbs. No resisters needed.

just as a note. I replaced my incandescent flasher lamps with LED's awhile back, and there not any brighter. Just take less energy. I wanst too impressed. The flasher units that are real bright rely on many led lamps..not just one

should have expanded the info a little more, it depends on the flasher, the OLD ones would flash no matter if it had bulbs connected or not, the new type flashers for vehicles are required by the government to inform the operator if they have a bulb failure by flashing at an increased rate, if you change out an old style bulb for an LED it will notice the reduced power draw and increase the flash rate ( some types will not flash at all)

Not how I underetood it... however... flasher replacement is easy... if a standard auto style flasher is used... pull out the old plug in the new. Some flash faster with less load (be it a burnt out bulb or lower wattage LED bulb) and some flash at the same rate regardless. I have had issues when trailer lights get added... SLOW flash... too much load...
