Many a soul has gone to their grave deemed an idiot...only to be reveled as a genius beyond their passing...

Amazing that 1# of uranium can replace 100 TONS of diesel fuel:laughing:

Imagine if we could safely scale nuclear tech down for automobiles?? I know there are a ton of other issues that make it nearly impossible.

But lets say an average vehicle that lasts 200,000 miles, and gets a pretty lousy 20 MPG. Thats 10,000 gallons of fuel. Or about 40 tons.

That means less than half a pound of uranium could power your vehicle OVER 200k miles......

If only we could figure out how to handle the waste.....

It is amazing how little is required and that the ship carries enough fuel for 5 years. The fact that the used uranium still is radioactive for thousands of years makes me think that there must be a way to use that energy.

Japan is thinking just the opposite with nuclear power.

Its kind of like the turbine engine car. It was highly efficient and very powerful.... but it was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think, and the exhaust would melt the paint of the car behind you at stop lights. Imagine a fender bender with a nuker on board. Talk about hasmat. Yikes! But the power of a nuker is pretty impressive. Need to make steam, just push that little button. You got steam!

Russians don't have a good record with nuke power. I wouldn't get get close to a Russian ship. Their first nuke breaker had a leak, almost killed everyone and poisoned the whole Arctic. Russians can't build anything. HS

I went to see the Chrysler turbine engine car when it was on display at a dealer in Dallas in the early '60s. One thing that struck me as odd at the time was that it looked more like a Ford Thunderbird than anything Chrysler was building at the time. And of course I guess we all saw it in the Elvis Presley movie.

The ice wouldn't have been there if it was cold. If it was cold, the ice would have been locked up. It was warm, so the ice broke up and blew with the wind, which pinned the ship in its location. Very similar to ice break-up on large rivers in the springtime. I.E. the local climate warmed, which caused the ice to break up and move.

Don't even bother. Trying to reason with right wing conservatives about anything having to do with science is a waste of time. They just make up their own bogus theories and anecdotes or ones that they heard on FOX to support their own biases. They don't bother to look at any of the data and pictures collected by extremely intelligent people who actually have the tools and spend time studying the data. Don't waste your time with these people. This website is about tractors and not much else is worth looking at.

It has nothing to do with right-wing, left-wing, science, religion, etc.... its a fact that in most places (except bizarro world) , ice melts in spring, which is what I said, which is what Houston Scott is arguing against. Lets keep politics, religion and science out of this and let mother nature show us the truth on this issue..... ice melts in spring.
