Stopping a snowmobile without injury

I'd suggest a sign indicating that you charge $100.00 per day for riding on your property. If they don't pay it, call the police and have them charged with theft of services.

I heard a story about a guy that was having problems with people hunting on his property even though it was posted as no trespassing. I believe the story goes that he switched the signs to "Leased Hunting Area" with his phone number. People would call, he would tell them it was already leased and they'd thank him. Trespassing stopped. Don't remember where I heard that. Probably isn't even true. But an interesting idea.

I could see that working. The trespassers would think that the woods would be full of other armed men out there hunting after paying the fee and would look unkindly on their trespassing. Yep that could work.

In PA we have a Recreational Use of Land and Water Act, which protects land owners from liability if someone was to get injured while recreating on privately owned land. However, as I understand it, if a land owner charges for use of the land, that can constitute a guarantee that the land is safe for said usage and therefore someone who charges for services may be held liable for injuries.

Just my 2 cents on this:

Could you post a couple signs that say "keep on the trail" and let the sleds cross through your land? If you have small trees, post signs there accordingly. Most sledders wouldn't want to jeopardize their privilege of crossing the property to go rogue through some baby trees or whatever you may be trying to protect. Unless you enjoy this kind of thing, you'll end up driving yourself mad trying to stop it. I have no idea why you would concern yourself about what happens on park property???

That is when he lost any sympathy from me.
Stopping sledders on park property was none of his concern.

People do volunteer their time to care for public areas like beaches and parks. If that is the case, then sledders ripping up river banks and such that have been tended to would sure be aggravating.

Even if not volunteering time and effort, the public needs to care about public spaces being well kept. Why shouldn't a citizen be concerned when public space is damaged? It's their tax dollars going down the drain. We don't let the idiots determine what is good and bad after all.

While most sledders are considerate, there are enough who are not to give all a black eye. The family fun and recreation is rarely there to help when trails need trimming or signs need putting up and down. I've seen sledders go off a marked trail across an open lake by 50 yards just so they could show people within 20 feet of them how fast they are going. There are too many idiots.

I get all worked up when an airplane flies over my land and disrupts my peace and privacy.

You would if it was 200' above your house all night long while you were trying to sleep. ;)
