Best diesel 5 gal fuel can?

Got the cans, but the spout is on eternal backorder.....grrrrrrrrrrr.

Anyone have an alternate source for the spout?

Our do-it-best hardware has them.

I wish I was joking but the best fuel can is a yard sale one. I have purchased two this way. You need to purchase two that are pre- EPA blah blah blah causing these new mandates where gas cans leak while pouring , they get full of pressure in the sun and do not release any vapor, they pour extremely slow, and they tip over VERY easy.

I bought my used gas cans and they work just so well! Something to keep in mind

An update to my purchase, and its possible this will get "yanked" for being a "political" comment by Mohammad somebody or another, but there was some question as to the JustRite Type II cans being made in China. All 6 of mine, 3 yellow and 3 Red, were made in the good old USA.

Quality of all 6 is superb and appears to be well worth the $45 I paid for each. Even though I purchased these through Zoro Tools, each had a shipping label from Grainger, so its entirely possible some distributors sell the Chinese made JustRite cans while others the 100% made in the USA models.....

Been looking to buy a diesel fuel contaner. Most I understand are no good but dont know which one pours and handles the best with all that EPA crap around. Any suggestings?

A used 5 gallon Hydraulic fluid bucket works like a charm . And is free ..

It appears that the continue to make these cans more and more difficult to use. I looked at a newer version that still had the little wedge on the spout that you had to hang on the fuel tank cap and press down to open the nozzle but it also had a darned button on the handle that you had to push. While checking this with an empty can, I found it nearly impossible with an empty can to hold up the can, push the button and push down on the nozzle at the same time. It seems the manufacturers are not even looking at ergonomics of use and just building something to suit the EPA regardless of whether it is practical to use or not.

After I bought my 3 yellow 5 gallon cans from http://www.zorotools.com/ I was surfing the web and found the Type 1 cans for $28.33@ plus shipping at Justrite 7150100 5G/19L SAFE CAN RED - JustriteSafetyCabinets - Your Source for Flammable Liquids Storage Supplies.

That's about the same price as the U.S. Military - Style 20l (5 1/4 - Gal.) Jerry Can, Olive Drab - 904142, Misc Surplus at Sportsman's Guide. I have two of those. I had to paint Diesel on them.

The Jerry cans are nice, rectangular fits better, but the Justrites 5 gal at $29 costs about $12 for shipping - to Virginia. Tradeoffs

I did have to do this during October. Had to fix a car under a car port and forgot to bring a fuel can to pick up kerosene for a salamander. I used a 5 gallon hydraulic oil bucket after I cleaned it out. Worked very well. It was dark but I didn't want to get caught putting kerosene from the pump in a five gallon bucket even if it did have a lid
