That sounds to me that you've got a gouging supply company, just looking for ways to get into your wallet!

Had the propane tank filled yesterday (25sep2014)--173.2 gallons @$3.05/gal.
Previous fill was Sep 2013--147.7 gal @$2.10/gal.
Most recent low price: July 2012--151.9 gal @ $1.70/gal.
Not complaining--still living the good life in the North Sacramento Valley:)

I stopped and visited with the Propane distributor that fills my Mom's tank yesterday. He's still on 100 gallon max. Price yesterday was $2.99.

I talked to him for several minutes about the plan for the next few months. He said he's sure the price will continue to drop. By Spring he expects the price to be under $2.00.

I said I didn't want to have my Mom's tank filled at an inflated price. After adding 100 gallon, her tank is at 50%. He said he has no plans to fill anyone's tank unless they request it filled as long as the price is over $2.00. When it goes under that he'll call all his customers and ask if they want filled before doing so.

I wanted to give him a big hug but there were other customers present. So I firmly shook his hand, looked him straight in the eyes and told him how much I appreciated his honesty and concern for his customers. Don't find that often today.

It's good to hear a story like that, esp. today.

Not many companies/people take the Long View anymore..... aside from being the Right Thing to do, a smart company (even today) realizes that you can't Buy that kind of advertising, at any price.

United States has been exporting propane by the ship load and due to the winter we are having we have our own shortage. The Marcellus gas in this area of the country is a wet gas and propane can be produced from it. We started exporting before our own gas production was ramped up to compensate. Its about the GOLDEN RULE.
HE WHO HAS THE GOLD MAKES THE RULES!

propane price is dropping faster than... well, we've all heard about those ladies & their knickers.
here in Canada we pay by the liter (3.79 liters in a US gallon).
I had my tanked topped off last July at 0.53/liter, in early Dec it was 0.733/liter, end of Jan it was 1.051/liter.
Price has been dropping by 2 or 3 cents almost every day over last couple of weeks... todays price is down to 0.75/liter.
My tank is sitting at 45%, so hopefully it'll go down a fair bit more before I need another delivery. This frigid weather has my furnace really sucking on that tank.

Sucking on the tank is a real good analogy and it does not stop sucking lately

Last three fills here in CT were: $1.95 (Oct '13), $2.24 (Dec '13), and $2.95 (Jan '13). Need to place an order soon and hoping we've seen the top. My prices are for an owned tank, not rented, which adds about $1.60 per gallon. Plus, with an owned tank, I can shop around for best price. This has been a memorable winter, and not in a good way. :(

In Eastern Kansas we are at $2.39 a gallon as of today, $2.29 a gallon if you pay your bill within 7 days. When it was real high they lowered their minimum to 100 gallons, now the minimum since prices have dropped is back to 200 gallons. I hope like **** we don't have another cold winter like this again anytime soon. I'm all for Global warming.
