Emu Egg Breakfast. 1 emu egg, heavy cream, salt pepper and a slice of Velveeta. One of our employees raises exotic animals and gets me one whenever I want to impress company. Thought Id share to try and impress you jack legs.....:laughing:

Not that I can tell, it might be a bit milder than a chicken egg. The yolk is not as bright yellow as a chicken.

Well it sure does look delicious...I wonder if an Ostrich egg is even bigger...Never any exotic eggs for sale around here that I see....

I'm impressed!

That's a heck of an egg.

My breakfast was two chicken eggs lightly fried with busted yolks, served on two toasted English muffins. Sort of like McD's, but better.

Something akin to a chowdahead.

A guy I work with brings in duck eggs from time to time.
A little bigger in diameter, but a lot bigger on the skillet.
An emu egg must take up a whole pan.

Sure am glad the supermarkets don't sell emu eggs by the dozen. I'd throw my back out just picking up a carton.

I wouldn't think an emu produced eggs like a chicken, as in daily or 36 hour layer and surely not enough for eating. I raise some peafowl and the hens only lay about 4-6 eggs per year. I would expect something similar for an emu and ostrich.

Sister has peacocks, and they made pretty big eggs. They used to have ducks and turkeys as well. If you were making an omelet, one would be all you would need. But nothing near as big as the emu eggs. Like the old guy on Hee-Haw used to say, "it wouldn't take many of those to make a dozen."
