I can certainly see why mangostin would be coveted and a reason for making a whole plane disappear...no wonder the Chinese are so bothered by the loss:duh:

Medicinal Uses: Dried fruits are shipped from Singapore to Calcutta and to China for medicinal use. The sliced and dried rind is powdered and administered to overcome dysentery. Made into an ointment, it is applied on eczema and other skin disorders. The rind decoction is taken to relieve diarrhea and cystitis, gonorrhea and gleet and is applied externally as an astringent lotion. A portion of the rind is steeped in water overnight and the infusion given as a remedy for chronic diarrhea in adults and children. Filipinos employ a decoction of the leaves and bark as a febrifuge and to treat thrush, diarrhea, dysentery and urinary disorders. In Malaya, an infusion of the leaves, combined with unripe banana and a little benzoin is applied to the wound of circumcision. A root decoction is taken to regulate menstruation. A bark extract called "amibiasine", has been marketed for the treatment of amoebic dysentery.

The rind of partially ripe fruits yields a polyhydroxy-xanthone derivative termed mangostin, also ゚-mangostin. That of fully ripe fruits contains the xanthones, gartanin, 8-disoxygartanin, and normangostin. A derivative of mangostin, mangostin-e, 6-di-O-glucoside, is a central nervous system depressant and causes a rise in blood pressure.

Actually, we'll discover that there is a new magician in town...and the latest trick is making a plane vanish:joker::wink::magician:

I don't know why the rest of you conspiracy folks couldn't figure this out...so obvious...er...unobvious...er...missing or something...

My point on the mangosteen is that is is very much out of season now. Not available until summer. And it is grown on trees in orchards, not greenhouses.

I think the speaker just answered the question about cargo with whatever harmless thing popped into his mind.

Sure, I'm just bemused by the whole "who dunnit" thing. I feel greatly for the people on board and their families, of course. But just can't quite buy, seriously, into the multi-complex conspiracy theories involving most present governments and named non-state entities, both regarding "who dunnit" and who all's covering up the big plane, passengers, electronic info from multiple countries and orbit, and ground dwellers from fishermen to farmers, on multiple waters, land masses and islands.

We just can't believe that unfortunate events, incompetency or confusion can happen anymore, particularly from our arm chair. I do admit that the talking heads have little to say and simply repeat that waiting for another tidbit of info or confusion to arise.

From the access door in the floor of the flight deck into the from avionics compartment. How much access is there to the oxygen system , into the front wheel well and back into the cargo compartments?
What other access hatches are there from the passenger deck down into the lower lever of the airframe?
I was involved in the design of the access hatch. I choose not to discuss the specifics... but one would have access to the Fwd E/E bay and Fwd pressurized cargo bay.

Maybe they were flying the airplane, not the autopilot flying the airplane. Pilots can do that, ya know? I am not familiar with the 777, but some equipment has cable controls. Some have hydraulic boost to assist, but if hydraulics are lost, one can still fly the aircraft. Redundancy is supposed to be built into the equipment. Hand flying without the hydraulics can be a little more difficult, but certainly not impossible, and most train for it in the simulator.
