Flat tire, now what?

It's obvious the tires are old and need replaced, and I will, but I am not going to take $1000 worth of new tires through the kind of sticks and limbs that I am driving over right now. I am going to milk these things as long as I can until I get all of the puncture obstacles cleared and burned, then I will replace them.
It takes a special kind of wood stob to punch a hole in a good tire -- even if it be an AG tire [which isnt the tuffest]. Fairly short undisturbed cuts are a threat ... longer tend to fold. Small ~ 2" freshly chainsaw cut at ~6-10" height can do it, esp if cut at an angle. Beaver cut sharp stobs are lethal for a year or so. Without the presence of this kind of stuf a good AG is close to invulnerable. You would likely save a lot of time and frustration by changing out those old fragile tires.

The former owner of my tractor, put new Goodyears on my tractor. I brush hog scotch broom witch leaves lots of "pungey sticks" and so far so good.

bleeding on your tractor does not have anything to do with the injector lines. Go to Hoyes website, they have a tutorial on it. But basically its 3 screws that you open till bubbles stop flowing starting at the tank side of filter then the out side then right at the injector pump, should take less than 5 mins.

If you dont do it you will have air in there. which it sounds like you do.

I'm resurrecting this old thread as I'm still trying to get my new front tires. The rears should last me through the season I hope. What a hassle this has turned into. The 5-14's are an obscure size, and I think this is the only tractor in the world which uses them. I don't want the piece of crap Chinese Milestone tires which blew out, so I ordered the Bridgestone/Firestone tires through a local ag tire dealer. They were supposed to be in last Wednesday. Well, apparently they were not in the warehouse in Portland like they said, and when I checked back they said "Oh, they're in Iowa, did you want to order them?" I said "You mean they've not even been ordered!?" I gave up on those guys, and ordered them through Hoye Tractor two days ago and was told they would ship out that day. Fast forward to this morning and I get a voicemail saying that the tires have not only not been shipped, but they won't even have them until Tuesday which means I wouldn't get them until the following week since I'm in WA. I can't wait that long. I'm going to have to pay $20 more per tire, and $10 more per tube to get them from the local Les Schwab which I was trying to avoid in the first place. It will end up being more than $400 for these dinky little tires. I'm actually a little disappointed in the tractor given the difficulty of finding parts.

Fredricks in Al. should have them. They have a Dealer in MN. Stans or one in La. these show to be closest to you. I would give them a call. Can't hurt. ;)

They show 5.14 Rear YM1702 and 4.00x12 Fronts for a YM1700

If you didn't order yet, you might give the guys at nebraska tire a call. Be sure and measure the height of the tire before calling. I ended up putting skid steer tires on the front of my 226D (25x8.5x14) and adjusting the rear tire pressure to get the correct amount of front over-run. I went from turf tires on the front to R4's. No regrets from the tractor or wallet.

P.S. I have done business with Hoye and my experience with them was nothing short of excellent. I didn't have my information with me, and not only did they take the time to ensure that the parts I needed were absolutely correct, they also reminded me of what I forgot. Sometimes a few 79 cent parts make all the difference. A lot of businesses could learn a lot from their extremely competent customer service. I have to believe your experience was an exception, not the norm.

Thanks for the replies. I already ordered from Les Schwab. I can't afford to have this tractor sitting anymore because I've lost 2 weeks. It's my own fault for waiting. The guys do seem nice at Hoye, and I will order stuff from them in the future. It was an honest mistake I know, but it seems every single business I have dealt with over the course of the past few months has completely dropped the ball. I could sit here and name off like half a dozen instances of incompetence but I will let bygones be bygones. Thanks again.

I doubt this will make you feel better but I had a similar experience with Les Schwab. I placed an order for an ag tire that was 'in the regional warehouse' and waited. Two weeks later no history of the order. I repeated this process a couple more times when they promised it was in some other region's warehouse.

I think they had a phantom tire listed in inventory that wasn't located at any specific place.

Sorry for late response. I bought same size from our local Tire Factory two years ago. My tires are made by Carlyle......seem to be a good tire thus far. Check Tire Factory if still in market. Good luck.

You Sir, are a better man than I.

I do wish you great luck in finding the tires you need.
