Kubota BX2370
I have a Kubota BX2370 that I would like to rig up to haul my 96 gal garbage container to the curb for pick up. My driveway is about a third of a mile and is gravel-covered--- and is quite steep. Going down is easier, of course, yet still a challenge--- when it is full and heavy, the gravel nearly causes it to tip over. Coming back up is the worst, of course--- very steep uphill climb the entire way. The biggest challenge, however, is that I am a few months post-op from back surgery and the weekly trash can trip is quite painful and difficult. Any ideas as to how I could use the pto to lift and carry the container? I could use a trailer, but that still requires a bit of man-handling the trash container. I have only had the tractor a few weeks so I am in need of lots of education! Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

It would be an interesting project to fabricate a three point attachment. However if you have a loader you can just roll it into the bucket and strap it down.

If you could post a picture or a description and dimensions of the container it might help...
...without knowing any of the above...a basic "carry-all" may work...with a hydraulic top link it they are fairly tip-able...

It's very easy to modify a basic carry-all frame for specific tasks...if you have rear remotes the possibilities are endless...

Is you garbage toter the style that a garbage truck can hook onto and tip over? If so, it should be pretty straight forward to mount a similar hook on the top center of your loader bucket. It can be a modified version of the BXpanded bucket hooks. Just drive up, lift and drive away.

Good luck!

I had similar problems here. Long gravel driveway. Cans are too heavy to lift into vehicles. At the time I didn't have a tractor with a loader.
I bought myself one of these:
Trash Can Carrier - Garbage Can Transporter
Dual.jpg

Works really well, and is easier than messing with whatever attachment is currently on the tractor.

^^^^^ That hitch attachment is pretty nice, but I don't think it would work for the OP, because of his back surgery. It appears that attachment has no way to lift the 96gal container by itself, meaning a person would have to pick up the weight of the entire container to set it on the hook. Is my thinking correct?

I like the previous idea posted by Gmanbart, that would likely solve the both problems by allowing the use of the 3pt hitch to lift the container, then transport it by tractor out to the road. With a little fabrication, a FEL could be adapted to do the same thing, but then you have to drive with the bucket raised somewhat to keep the container off the ground, and it might limit visibility some. That would be my 2nd choice. Good ideas though, I might have to file them away in the thumb drive in my brain in case I ever need to do that LOL.

The hitch attachment swings down so you lean the container back on the wheels and drop it over the hook. Then you push forward to raise it up into position. You never have to lift the whole can without leverage. My girls can do it.

The tractor attachments might work great, but you might find yourself wrestling to swap attachments that weigh more than your trash cans.
But perhaps if you mounted a hook to the top edge of the FEL bucket that hooked the bar on the front of the cans then it would be always available when the bucket is on the tractor.

AsheBill-

BTW - Welcome to TBN

I have a better idea. Rather than risk a "crash" and re-injury to your back. Have a friend move that garbage container - at least until you are in better shape to do it yourself. From the sound of your thread this "trip" is somewhat hazardous even under the best of conditions. Your current physical condition, the fact that you are new to tractor operations and the environment you are working under are not conducive to learning proper operations or in the extreme are hazardous to your health.
