Have you come up with a price range you feel comfortable with, paying cash / financing? New or used? Are you buying all of the implements at once or as the need arises. How much land do you have? By snaking do you mean skidding? How big are the logs, travel distance hauling? There are a lot of factors.

OP -
You'd be better off asking who has a tractor they hate. Most here love the one they bought until they find a better (often bigger) one. Most of us take time to make a decision and think we made the correct decision.

Read a lot of other threads - 1 acre in the desert? 10 acres in Ohio? 1,000 acres in Montana?

I'm partial to the Daedong sourced tractors in the 25 to 35 hp range for my 20 acres of NH wood, rock, and swamp.

Kioti CKs, Bobcat CTs (no longer being made), couple other companies in the U.S. rebranding them and selling them. Good, solid acreage tractors for the small farmer/hobby farmer.

well i recently bought a new bobcat ct225. (same as a kioti ck 27 mostly) so far i have put about 36 hours on it and like it more each time i use it. it has a hydro trans. it replaced a smaller yammer 1702( similar to a john deere 750). the price was far lower than every other tractor i looked at in this size due to bobcat discontinuing tractor sales. So far i have moved tons of snow, tilled over a half acre graded dirt and cleared much of a 1 ac wood lot. no bush hog yet. tractor has passed all my expectations. what ever you decide on a quick attach system with a set of pallet forks is a very useful attachment also a rear blade. i highly recommend the bobcat or its twin (and manufacturer) kioti.

It's pretty tough to by a bad tractor nowadays unless you buy Chinese.
Whats your budget? How big of tractor do you want?
I chose a Kioti DK series (DK45SE HST Cab) for the capability, and many standard features that other brands don't offer, or charge extra for, and value for the dollar.
I got a Cab machine ,with heat, AC, stereo tilt wheel, etc with money left over, for what I would have paid for a open station made by some other brands.... that would lift close to what my Kioti will, I see that as a free Cab and money left over.

The DK series, tier3, is being replaced by the NX series, tier 4

All 2014 tractors must be tier4 compliant, emissions controls, computer etc.
If your interested in a DK you better get to looking, when they are gone they are gone, they come in 40/45/50 HP, open station or Cab..I hear the Cabs are getting very scarce..
When you move up to the 40 horse frame size your lift capacity goes way up,. The DK will lift 2761lbs to full height properly ballasted.
Great Tractor no regrets.

As previously mentioned most folks like the tractors they bought.

If you want a tier 3 machine of any brand you better not wait too long.

Kioti has the free loader program going on right now. Kioti Tractors

A tractor is just an engine....it's the attachments that make all the difference and do the work...you have hours and hours of reading of existing TBN threads ahead of you...this is the best way to understand what people like and dislike and how they use attachments for their equipment.

Best make a list of good ideas you find here...there are lots of them, too many for you to do or purchase all...so you'll have to choose what will best fit your needs. Tools for working on equipment is also important so you have it when you need it...

Welcome, and good luck!

I agree that we tend to defend our own decisions and like the latest tractor we have bought the best. I certainly like this one and it will do anything you have mentioned. I do need more attachments of course.:D:welcome:

Before I bought any thing I would do a lot of reading. I would also go to the various dealers and see if they won't let you operate a tractor on their lot lot for a few minutes. Cycle the loader up and down, go from forward to reverse and see if you can do that comfortably. Are the hydraulic controls in a comfortable place? Operating the loader can get old real quick if your arm is always extended past a comfortable point. Is the throttle easy to get to? Are all the controls well thought out and logical in their placement. Some manufacturers make excellent tractors but they are a pain to operate after a few hours. I've sat in my 4410 for up to 8 hours at a time cleaning the manure out of corrals or mowing grass. There are a few things I don't like on the tractor by for the most part it's easy to operate for that length of time. I cannot explain why I have to reach to the dash to operate the throttle. It should be on the console beside you like most of the other controls. Lastly the dealer. How much they care about you after you've given them your money is very important. How easy is it to get parts? For how many years are parts going to be available? I would be very reluctant to buy a model of tractor that has a poor dealership network or that is no longer manufacturing tractors. It just plain sucks to have a good tractor that needs a part that is no longer available. And yes the aftermarket steps in but not if it's not financially feasible for them. Just my opinion and it might be different from most because I use my tractor to earn part of my living. I'll tell you it's pretty awesome to have dealer that will let you use a demonstrator tractor to earn money while your waiting for parts for your own tractor.
