wondering why you didn't just build a one foot wall to make up the difference?

As for hurricane straps, how are you going to do this?

Who is the General Contactor on this project?

Eddie

My GC gave me the option of one foot walls, but I was worried about adhesion and settling. I probably made the wrong decision, but I'm past the point of going back. The sills and sub-floor are on. Last I heard the walls will be fully studded up tonight.

As for the hurricane straps, I have four layers of the plate. Two of the four layers are bolted down to the concrete with your standard metal bar in concrete capped with washers and bolt. The straps are between the 1st and 2nd layers that are bolted down reaching up. Ill try and get a picture tonight.

The CG is the owner of quality home construction from around here. I know it doesn't sound like it from my sagas, but the quality of home I've seen him produce compared to a lot of GCs around here is night and day. I have been doing as much of the work for him that I can like permits and such, he has been great to work with but I'm sure I'm annoying him. The basement was bad drawings in the end. The plans had an older height listed that the sub poured off of. I didn't catch that one. :(

Some guy named Gus is the foreman on the job. Sorry I don't see a company name on the truck they drive.

I was in Washington myself until the house sold 6 months ago.

Moving along. Walls are up. Trusses arrived today. Electric should be pulled this week. Maybe basement plumbing and basement floor pour next week. I hope the roof goes up quick. I found 90% of the kitchen cabinets on craigslist for 300$ needs a paint job but the wife wanted to paint them anyway. Score!

The muddy mess that is my homesite dried out enough today that I could take new photos. Enjoy

It will be nice when they get the roof on and widows in so you are dried in. It's starting to come together.

Nice! Looks very similar in shape to what I'm planning. I'm interested to see how it looks with the back wall of the basement being framed. I'm considering doing mine that way, but most in my area block/concrete the in entire basement. Seems to be some savings in framing it though, especially if you plan to brick/stone the foundation anyway. Looks great so far!

A lot goes on in a week. We changed from a shingle roof to a metal so a slight delay there. But the osb roof is up. Just waiting on doors and the big window in front to be put in then we have lock and key. :) the electric pull of 880 foot was successfully yesterday after a few hiccups. The Ameren installers where troopers, great guys to work with even with as tough a pull as it ended up being. It was cool to watch them suck the bigger pull tape through with a canvas parachute pulling balloon. Hopefully the electric box inside the house will be hot when I get home tonight. Enjoy the pics it's coming along quickly now.

We are moving right along. My wife calls it the cheery daffodil and my grandma calls it buttercup cottage. I'm not sure about it but the women in my life love it so it must be good, right? Anyway they put on the first coat of mud yesterday. All the outside siding and such is on. The well guy came out this morning. I'm awaiting word from the contractor as to how deep the well has to go.

Anyone know how to refinish the floor of a badly pitted claw foot tub. That's my weekend project.
