NEW HOLLAND 4835
Hello all, I have a New Holland 4835 with a unknown problem and I need your help. I use a 12' Landpride Mower on this tractor. For some reason the mower started streaking grass 2' from the left wing. I thought it was the mower. I bought this mower new and this occurred my first year using it. I thought it was a leveling problem. I had the mower at two dealers and everything checks out fine. I connected this mower to another tractor and it did fine, no streaking in the grass. This past winter I replaced the pto clutches and plates. I did find one clutch that was shaved half the way around to the metal. I thought for sure that I had fixed theproblem. Well no I have not, it is still doing the samething. I checked the hydraulic pressure and it is what it supposed to be. I have changed the filters and fluid. I did hear a noise after running the tractor for awhile and it sounded like a rattle, but when I press the accelerator the noise quits. I tried to pin point where that noise is coming from and its hard to determine. I have included a picture what I am talking about. I just wanted some advice on what is causing this or what I need to do next. photo 4.jpg

If a little more accelerator resolved one issue...it's obvious...pour on some more coal ;)

Let me clarify on the accelerator. I just tap it and the noise quits.

um.. if you are trying to say it is a twin spindle mower and one spindle is cutting fine, and the other is streaking.. then i can assure you it is not your tractor pto. your tractor sends pto power via shaft to the mower gearboxes. usually a splitter box that feeds another one for each spindle. or a multi head box, all depends on design.

In any event.. if 1 box is getting correct power. tractgor is doing it's job.... keep looking.. AT THE MOWER

Thanks Soundguy, but again I used this mower on another tractor without any problems. No streaking in the grass, the mower cut like it did the first time I used it. When I connect it to my tractor the picture is the end results. I can't explain it or have not clue what is causing this. I know that it did not do that when I first start using it and I have not hit anything with the mower. The dealers have checked all the gear boxes including the power distribution box. Clutches have been tighten by dealer and no change. Don't understand why it works well on another tractor and not mines.

well.. it ain't the PTO!!

no way to xmit power to only one side of the mower and not fully to the other and it be the tractor pto.

if tractor pto works for one side of the mower..... the problem is in the mower or the streaked grass is getting laid down by a tire or guard etc.

No the grass is not in the area of the tires. The tired imprint is approximate 4 to 5 feet. This area exactly 2 feet from the left wing. The Land Pride manager thought the same thing until I sent him pictures with the tractor sitting there from the rear and then he realize the tires had nothing to do with it. I have no clue what is causing this, all I know is that I have not fixed it and it is driving me nuts.

PTO speed 540??? Blade retracted due to low tip speed??? Blade pivot point binding ( lube)

Yes pto speed 540. Blades move freely. I just got off the phone and according to another mechanic he stated that the clutch spring or piston may not be engaging properly allowing the clutch to slip. Anyway thats still kinda of strange because it only affects one section of the mower and why not all of it.
