You guys in the south are killing me. :)

I have some two-leaf cucumber seed sprouts as of today. Snap beans haven't made it out of the ground yet. Pictures of bare dirt aren't very interesting I suppose?

Don't feel bad, I'm behind the Texans. And the odds are your beans will still be trucking on long after the heat has done ours in. They say they will stop producing if it's above 85F. Hope that's wrong because it was 91F earlier today here at the Larro Ranchero.

I'd love to see pictures of bare dirt... how do you keep the weeds from taking over while you sleep? ;)

I forgot to say that we saw the first little Crimson Sweets on the vines this morning. They were about the size of a ping pong ball.

Those weeds never sleep; they are the Pinkertons of the plant world.

I didn't til the garden last fall. I tilled it back in mid-May, then again the morning I planted the cukes and beans. Not having a lot of garden this year. The raised bed has some leaf lettuce, red beets, carrots, spinach and radishes coming along. It's about time to get out the tweezers and thin the carrots. We'll plant some more lettuce, radishes and spinach soon.

Growing just enough to keep the two of us supplied with fresh greens here in the woods.

I'm perpetually guilty of taking on more than I can do. I'm turning over a new leaf though... as soon as I get the few survivng strawberry plants in the ground from the 1000 which should have been planted a month ago. :(
Peas, radishes, onions, summer carrots and 'taters are all up... garlic is looking good. My seedlings are going on plastic to keep the weeds down.

Dave, have you tried pelleted carrot seeds yet? They seem a little pricey in the short run but it's nice not to thin them...
Especially since that chore never seems to happen. (Have I mentioned that I tend to take on too many projects? :D)

Same way here. Last year my brother who waters my one of my remote gardens (he lives closer to it) mentioned how he and his wife are getting tired of eating cucumbers. I was like "oh yeah, totally forgot I planted those"

I have not tried pelleted carrot seed, didn't even think about it being available. I am guilty of not thinning carrots too, which is really pathetic given how small our growing is. :) The raised bed soil/medium is pretty fluffy. The carrots do suffer a bit if not thinned but it's not a disaster.
