Remove your hitch.

He said it was stuck and had been in there for 6 years. Anyway, we put a chain around it and a couple of good pulls from my F350 popped it out.
Next time try removing the pin first ;)

How do y'all keep your hitches in for an extended period without someone stealing them? I'm told they are taken as untraceable scrap iron.

I don't trust locking pins.

I find it funny a F350 finally found some work to do that is worthy of bragging about. Time to put it back in the garage now.

The point was it was so rusted a 2500 Diesel truck could not free it.

I once lifted the rear end of a van off the ground with a backhoe trying to remove a sized little 1.25" class 2 hitch with no luck. Just ended up having to buy a new hitch.

Chris

Are you really saying that a 2500 dmax couldn't free it, but your f350 could? Did he actually try it... like against a tree or something?

I have cut 2 of these out of pickup trucks when a tow strap tied to a tree failed to jerk it free. Cut all of the protruding tow bar off the hitch. Then use a sawsall to make three cuts length wise through the tube going into the hitch. Few taps will a chisel loosens all 3 pieces. Took about 45 minutes per hitch

I appreciate this thread. I'm going to go squirt a light coat of Fluid Film on my stinger (almost newish condition at this point) this evening just for prevention.

Ouch, that's scary. I have to switch between 2" and 2 5/16" often enough that it's not a problem, but the main reason I remove it when not in use is so I don't gouge my shin!

If you leave it in, it will rust in place permanently.

If you leave it in, it will get stolen.

We need to ask a hitch thief how to get it out. :)

SUPERBUMPER Hitch Step - Stops Rear End Collision Damage.

It's been posted before, and I have no idea what the build quality is.....

IMO, what somebody has just re-engineered with this product is the shock-absorbing bumper style of the 1970's domestic vehicles..... you know, the ones that could have a low speed impact, and show no damage.

Today, it's cheaper for manufacturers to stuff styrofoam behind bumpers..... we get stuck with $3,000+ repair bills, for a light tap on a bumper...... progress ?

I never leave a drawbar in a receiver, for the reasons discussed..... up here in salt-land.....
