Don't get me started on taxes. My property taxes are $9400 per year and taxed on 2000 square feet (finished basement doesn't count) and 1 1/2 acres. State income tax of 6.5%. State sales tx of 6.5%. Oh and property taxes on three not very expensive cars $900 annually.
Ouch. I guess I should stop complaining about the taxes where I live.

I'm pretty sure it's cheaper to "rent" than it is to buy.

Some people rent often and some people buy more than once. Me, I bought once, never have rented.

I keep threatening to find 10 acres somewhere (probably nothing to most of you but a lot in CT) build a 2000 square foot garage and my wife can build whatever will fit on top but can only add one story. And these stupid *** politicions can't figure out why we are losing business's. Sorry to get political but I hate democrats!! Oh and property taxes on three not very expensive cars $900 annually.

Not going up to find who said the the hidden cost of getting married was "divorce" but he is so right. Been there.

Yep, that was me, been going through it for nearly 3 years

It was humor. My wife was complaining about how much the machine cost us. I told her it was only $23,000 for the machine and she said "but what about all the other extra stuff?" So I started adding it up and just thought it would be funny to post. Take it how ever you want though.

It gave me a chuckle ... thanks for sharing. You don't have to spend $23,000 to get the same sort of results, either  Some 30+ years ago as a "Yankee" (anyone who lives north of I-10 according to a co-worker) newcomer to the Texas Gulf Coast I decided to "improve" the lawn on the house I leased and installed a thatching blade on my walk behind mower. Big mistake on a St. Augustine lawn which spreads by runners. I destroyed the lawn. I decided to replant the lawn and bought a tiller (Troy-Bilt Pony). While tilling towards the front of the front yard a wire comes up. Didn't think anything of it figuring it was just construction debris and grabbed a hold of it and promptly got zapped. Never figured out what it went to- the closest thing was a post light but it was a gas light ... maybe it was previously electric. I also managed to destroyed some of the cement tile siding on the garage. Found some replacements and some paint to match. I also managed to knock the carb loose trying to get up close to the chain link fence so I spent some more for a brush guard for the tiller. While I was at it I figured I'd till up a spot for the vegetable garden. No problems until I tried to idle down the motor- it kept racing and running erratically. Then I smelled gas ... natural gas. I'd scoped out the location of the gas meter and where the line ran into the house but I had failed to notice the line running to the barbeque grill from the meter- it was only buried 7"-8" and right under where I was tilling. Replaced and relocated the line.

It all turned out well in the end- the new front lawn looked great, the garden was amazingly productive and the yard looked much better than when I started. I still laugh when I think about what a $15 thatching blade led to.

From what I hear, there are lots of Mass people crossing the border to avoid Ma taxes. Then they will want all the stuff that they had in Ma. That will cost more, and so ... more taxes. It happened in NYS. All the NYC people moved upstate to get away from NYC taxes, then started changing upstate. Now NYS is a Dem state.

Some truth there, we didn't used to be a swing state. Whenever I hear someone who has moved whine about less social bennies I ask them why they moved here...because it's cheaper. Those bennies gotta come from somewhere.

My landscape is more torn up now than ever and I am getting a lot of landscaping done. The problem is the BX is just too much fun to let it sit. I have more half done projects, temporary roads dug, sites for retaining walls, I can't keep up with my BX. It has a mind of its own. When I start it up, I have a task in mind but somehow I do more 'damage' to other parts of the property that weren't on the day's schedule.:D:shocked:
