So yea, I took apart my throttle tonight, backed off the Jam nuts on the friction washer until it was loose, and sprayed some penetrating grease on both sides of the friction washer and the roller and pivot, then reset the tension on the friction washer, boy oh boy what a difference, smooth as butter, it works really nice now:)

The darn thing was so stiff before, I was afraid I was going to wear out my column pulling so hard on it.

FYI the jam nuts were very tight, I had a open end on the top nut and a box end on the bottom, held the top wrench and gave the bottom wrench a smack with a heavy hammer, I did lay a coat over the dash in case the wrench fell off or I missed, but it all went fine, that broke it loose.

Any of you guys that have not done this should. Thanks again James:thumbsup:

I readjusted my DK 45's throttle also especially handy for reengaging the PTO at slower RPM and then reving up to 540 again. I readjusted the cruise selidoid closer too, now when I hit a bump it stays put instead of creeping slower.

Yep, sure is nice to easily move it where you want it, without it being a concentrated effort.

Dang, I still need to do this on my DK50SE. The throttle lever is really stiff. I think I'll use some Fluid Film or Kroil on mine when I do it.

Thanks for the post James. After reading and checking out the pictures, I decided to try a shortcut. I pulled back the bellows on the throttle lever at the steering coulmn cover and gave the linkages in your photos a shot of BG motorcycle chain lube. Did not remove the steering column covers. Moved the throttle lever back and forth several times and it freed right up. I've had my DK45SE almost four years now and didn't even know the throttle was too stiff. Works much easier now. Thanks for the detailed info.

Hmmmm. I'm always game for the lazy way out. I may give this a try before I remove the covers on the steering column. Certainly can't hurt. A can of Fluid Film with the little straw extender on it might be just the ticket.

Yea, its kind of nice to grab it and easily goose it once in a while:shocked:, instead of the mostly set it and forget it cause its to much of a PIA to move.:)

Its not hard to remove the covers, if you go that route and back off the jam nuts till the washers flopping you can get a spray grease on both sides of the washer then reset the tension to your liking, I can move mine anywhere I want with a firm one finger pull, and it does not vibrate up or down....Sure is a lot nicer to use.

I usually adjust my throttle by bumping it because it's so hard to push or pull it in small increments. I'm tired of it and need to do this fix asap.

I do not read TBN much lately as I am spending most of my free time clearing some property or working for my employer. I am so glad I stumbled across this article and will do this on mine weekend after next. Since day 1 of owning my tractor, I have been planning on fixing this throttle issue and it quickly fell to the bottom of my very long too-do list ( and now have a long honey-do list). The same guy who installed the throttle assembly must have also installed my hydraulic filter.
