Few months back at Sears. On the shelf with the made in China packages, as soon as I saw the packaging I knew.

I kinda make it like a scavenger hunt, my girlfriend has finally figured it out after a couple years and helps out on the occasional stop to a small hardware store we haven't been to before.

The ex wife just never understood :confused3:

Sadly, most anything of high production made in USA today is done with robots, not humans. It seems we Americans have trouble needing breaks, to be paid, and then we get carpal tunnel syndrome and need off for a few months to heal. I guess the Chinese don't have these problems and can work in the smogged out conditions they create.

Thankfully, there are still a few companies whom for the most part are struggling to stay afloat here in the states. Unfortunately, when you find these gems, it usually doesn't do much for those companies trying to keep open. I am guilty too, mostly because I don't have much discretionary income, of buying some crap at HF.

I am a sucker for vintage american made tools and was looking for a drill press that can use morse taper drill bits up to 2", I found a champion blower and forge 21" DP on craigslist that was heading for scrap if someone didn't want it. I paid $200 and brought it home. This thing had sixty years of crud and multiple paint layers, When I bought it, It had been sitting outside with the rain sun and snow for who knows how long but as I mentioned before I am a sucker.

I am still not finished there is a broken bevel gear that I sent off to a machinist to rebuild.

Holy schmokes!!! That is not just a tool, that is art. Very, very nice.

Well, my tractor was made in Tazewell, VA. Does that count?

I toured a factory up in Vancouver Canada recently. They said that humans only have an accuracy of 80% on average. They employ a lot of humans, but they are overseeing basically robots to improve on human's faults. I don't see a problem with this as long as the equipment is manufactured on this continent. Hopefully the US will do the same. That company, by the way, is off the charts on their growth.

As far as this thread goes, please keep the old iron pictures coming, but current US companies making stuff here are extremely, extremely, deserving of recognition as well.
