Weld on bucket hooks!

I used slip hooks in all 3 locations because I prefer to use rope or straps instead of chain, whenever it makes sense.
5/8" polyester double braid is very strong, not too stretchy, somewhat abrasion resistant and a fraction of the weight of an equal length of chain.
If the job dictates that I really need chain, then I use these on the slip hooks:

Where do you get that slip hook from?

The grab links I think I got from either Labonville or Bailey's - NT has them, too.
The two bolt on slip hooks on the top of the bucket are from TSC.
The single hook, on the back of the bucket, is made from a 2" receiver hook that someone gave me. I cut most of the 2 x 2 off of it and used a piece of 3 x 5 x 1/4" for a doubler on the back of the bucket.

This guy make some good looking stuff.

Ken's Bolt On Grab Hooks, boltonhooks.com

The double attaching points, chain on top and shackle mount on the bottom or inside the bucket, this is a great idea.

He also carries chain accessories and other needed things.

Ken offers some very nice products. :drink:

I order a two set of plates and grab hooks from Ken, they arrived in no time, and the individual prices were good!

Instead of the traditional two bolts as shown above, I opted for (4) Grade 8 3/8-16 per plate.

I drilled the plates this morning then welded the hooks in place. I was pretty pleased with my welding results and got excellent heat penetration. I was using .030 wire so I gave it 2 passes to ensure strength. I cleaned them up using a wire wheel then sanded the assemblies thoroughly before priming and painting.

I'm using Rustoleum primer and Rustoleum orange trying to make them look as good as Ken's... When I get them finished I'll post some photos before I install them on my BX25D..

Have you seen the proof testing videos? Two bolts is PLENTY strong enough for your machine! Nothing wrong with overkill though ;)

Looking forward to seeing them!

Oh yes, I've watched your video's and spent quite a bit of time on your site, nicely done Ken!

Regarding strength, I probably could get away with #10-32 hardware to hold the hooks in place. My BX25D can't generate the loads needed to shear even #10-32 hardware....

The 3/8-16 hardware will without a doubt be sufficient far beyond the machines capabilities but it will have the appearance of strength and durability......

I hope to have some photos either later today or tomorrow and will post them here....and there!

I watched the video, was surprised by the results. I didn't know but thought the bolts would have broken before the bucket bent.

I will be buying the double setup as I posted above but right now I am trying to sell my existing tractor, looking at a slightly used, 43 hrs, Mahindra Max 28 BLT. Also looking at his small chain shortened, another great idea made available by Ken.
I don't do this kind of work and did not know these parts were available but Ken got it together in one spot. I guess I should say thanks to kenndyd ...

p.s. Not looking for a discount... lol !

As I indicated above, I bought both hook and blank plate from Kenny D then machined, welded, sanded, primed and painted them. While the bolts I used are clearly overkill it helps my little Kubota BX25D feel like one of the big boy's.....

I haven't decided whether or not I'll add provisions for shackles inside the bucket but I can add them any time.....
