Stopped by Sears this evening, found an older stock, clearanced Made in USA 24 pc 1/2" drive socket set with "premium" ratchet. It was marked down from $99.99 to $39.93. The sales associate said it must have been found out back. I couldn't leave the set behind.

Good find, i think you posted in the wrong thread though.

You're right GP, I started it, and apparently forgot, maybe a mod could move it?

Yes, a very nice find. I have a tendency to have smaller sets like that stored in every vehicle or location where I might need some tools. They actually get more use than I thought they would. I like the look of that ratchet.

Picked up 4 of these 8" adjustable wrenches at Lowes, clearanced 1/2 price. The current iteration of these wrenches are made in China. Imagine clearance on a U.S. made item to make room for Chinese made. Disgusting. The wrenches are for the kids at Christmas.

The info below came from Wikipedia;

Cooper bought Crescent in 1968

Apex Tool Group is a U.S. based supplier of hand tools and power tools. It was formed as a joint venture of Cooper Industries and Danaher by the merger of Cooper Tools and Danaher's Tools and Components segment. In October 2012 Danaher and Cooper sold Apex to Bain Capital for about $1.6 billion.[1] Apex is headquartered in Sparks, Maryland, United States, but most of its production is located in China and South America[citation needed].

Isn't Bain Capital Mitt Romney's company? Such a shame that something as American as Crescent gets made somewhere else.

I love buying misc tools for my kids for Christmas. They kind of look at me weird sometimes but I think tools are important symbols of independence of DIY and the spirit of helping out others.
