Are tractors with cabs becoming the norm?

I'm reading a lot of comments about tree damage. One of the things I would want with a cab is enough HP to run a batwing mower. If it was just to be comfortable, I probably wouldn't upgrade to a cab tractor, but I want to be able to run a bigger mower, so it just makes a lot of sense to go for one with a cab. Wouldn't the added width of a batwing make it easier to mow up close to trees? Same thing with getting right to the waters edge while mowing around the pond.
As it is now, I go out a few times a year and cut branches that try to take my head off while mowing with my open station tractor. I'm not sure which is going to be worse, scratching a cab or losing an eye. LOL
Well, if your trees overhang enough to hit the cab while pulling a 15 foot batwing, you probably need to trim your trees :D.
Otherwise, it takes a fairly good sized branch to take out a cab window and if you keep things trimmed back enough that you don't have to duck on an open station tractor, you will probably be fine with a cab.

I purchased a John Deere 855 with a Curtis cab a few years ago, use it for just about everything mowing, FEL, and snow. But the main reason was the snow, I hate the cold and plowing and blowing in a heated cab is now enjoyable. I just purchased a new 2032r for a it more HP and seeing lJD doesn't have a cab for this model tractor I ordered a Curtis cab for it as well. In the summer I pop the doors off and take out the front window for fresh air. Needed to cut some limbs to prevent scratches or damage but clean warm and dry for me is the way to go. As a note I have used and still use many open cabs tractors but with a cab I'm am no longer a "Fair Weather" operator, I can have fun/ seat time any time.

Mahindra Expands EMax Series to Include Cab - TractorByNet.com

I wonder how much it costs over the previous year's model.

Next question...

I was just watching a YouTube video of a Deere 3520 with a front snow blower clearing snow.
This tractor had a cab and loader, but the loader was not installed (since the factory snow blower was installed).

It appeared the loader mounts are pretty close to the cab glass...does remount the loader give you cab guys any grief? Anyone broke any glass yet (when remounting the loader)?

I'm not in the market for any tractor at this point in time...my open station 4400 has just under 1100 hours, so I reckon there's plenty of hours left in her. But, if a good deal comes along (like the 4400 was when I traded the 790)...well, you never know...
I've never really given any thought to a cab, but again, if the right deal came along, I'd consider one (used, of course).

Roy I run a L3430 HSTC and take my loader off when I cut the field out front, 6 or 8 times a season and never came close to the windows. With the dust and bees, etc the cab comes in handy. Unfortunately all the greenhouse glass makes you run the AC at 60 and 65 ambient temp sometimes depending on cloud cover.

The loader comes off in the winter and front blower goes on. I live on the weather side of Holland Hill and the wind is ridiculous, the cab makes snowblowing a pleasure! In a past career I had open L2850 and Curtis cabbed L2250. I would not go back to gears or open, and factory cab is the better way to go often.

I volunteer for my local snowmobile club- we just bought a JD 825i Gator with a Curtis cab to replace some of our open snowmobile (Skandics) groomers. We went with the Curtis because it had a sliding window in the door. I like grooming with my window open and the factory cab does not allow for that. We put camoplast all season tracks on it for grooming, so hopefully it will entice some operators (butts in the seat!). We also run 2 Tuckers and a 4 stroke Skandic.

Two thoughts from a weekend warrior/hobbyist perspective:

1) I work indoors in an office environment 40-50 hours a week and really enjoy my seat time on an open station tractor.

2) If you invest the extra money you would pay for a cab, you may be able to cash out your savings and pay someone else to clear the ice and snow from your driveway. That's my plan when I get old and and feeble anyway. :)

That's not bad logic;)

The final, but unneeded, deciding factor for me, is that a cab is too tall for my heated garage. I can fold the ROPS and at least start with a warm, dry machine.:D

i just priced a 9960 kubota cab 4x4 fel for $58,300 vs a 9960 4x4 rops fel for $49,750.so theres about $9000 between an open station and cab.

That really shows the markup in making a cab
