because the pump ran dry it flogged the plunger seals out, these will need to be replaced. for these reasons alone i run 2 stroke oil in my diesel to keep everything lubed...

My 1050 has to much fluid in the crank case. how do you determine if it is diesel or hydraulic fluid?
Is it possible for a seal on the hydraulic pump to go bad and let hydraulic fluid to get into the crank case?

Should have a diesel smell if diesel is leaking. Watch the transmission level for lowering of fluid. Yes, I have read of hydraulic fluid leaking through the pump. Also read of diesel leaking through the injection pump.

Brownie you should start a new post. Instead of this zombie post.

And a post in the JD form may help more. Not saying we dont know what were talking about but ask the JD experts they will know the common failures. Better than us.

He has a Yanmar with John Deere wrote on it. 3t90t-J engine, turbocharged. You are probably right about posting on the John Deere forum but I would be interested in the findings.

Yep, He has my tractor with a turbo,, If you have a good amount of diesel in the oil,, The oil probable wouldn't be as thick as straight oil (watered down so to speak).. If it were hyd fluid. I would think the oil would still be kinda thick

These JD850, JD950 and JD1050 are all YANMARS from the ground up. Not just the engines. I have seen all too often owners of these tractors getting really no response in the JD forums. Glad they swung here in the Yanmar section. :)

I had once owned a JD850. Good machine while it ran. The governor rod got bent and jammed and the #2 and #3 injector lines got swapped after a rebuild. The engine blew shortly there after. I had looked high and low for a 3T80 engine or head. No luck until I had found Fredricks. The price to overhaul the JD850 or get a YM2500 or YM2610 on trade-in was very close. I got the YM2610. Glad I did. :)
Happy with the quality and 1-yr warranty too. This will never be found on a Vietnam Yanmar.

i knew the 850 and 950 were full yanmars but i guess i missed the 1050 as one, i keep seeing like the old 1020s in my head even though i read 1050
