How can it win the comparison test if it cant (legally) haul their test load? Their 1000# test load puts the Ram 40# overweight (payload is 960#) before the driver even gets in the truck.

I just love checking on on these threads for stuff like this. I didn't go back all the way but I expect some more from the Ford folks like Diamondpilot are in this thread.

Looks like they may not have gotten one with the "Trailer Tow Package" and as such it was only rated to tow 5000#.

I know! Isn't that the craziest thing.. I'm surprised it didn't collapse under the load! !!

At idle yes, at cruise it would absolutely be pulling vacuum.

I'm not quite sure I understand how you came to this conclusion, for a turbocharged engine. I can't speak for a gasser, but my Duramax is running about 12 psi at cruise. It runs about 5 or so at idle.

I thought the same thing. Not sure how you could have a vacuum downstream of the turbo.

Because a turbo is not producing boost until it's spun up. If a turbo was producing boost all the time there would be no efficiencies to be found.

The Motor Trend article. Mostly the acceleration numbers in the chart. The only one that gets the 7000 lb trailer 70MPH score.

Comparison: 2015 Ford F-150 vs. Ram 1500 vs. Chevrolet Silverado All Pages

The article also says that in the end the AL materials gave them pause because of the unknowns. Me, I give Ford credit for pushing the envelope. They should have won.

I must be missing that chart on my tablet, because from the text it says they are all able to accelerate from 60 to 70 mph, on a steady 6% grade.
