Canadians Have True Class

The other night, at the start of the Saint Louis Blues hockey game [vs Edmonton if I remember right] - the singer in a tribute to our cousins up 'nort - killed the mike [or stopped singing, hard to see on the radio...] during the anthem. After a quick chuckle, the crowd bellowed out the rest. The singer did join back in over the mike. I thought it was a nice salute to the hockey fans in Canada.

[no, I am not going to learn grammar at this late age]

I did not know that factoid. That is pretty cool.

For those who have not heard of the Halifax explosion, during WW I, a ship bound for FranceIwith explosives on board caught fire and exploded in the harbor:

I have seen documentaries and read the history of the explosion which was horrific. I seem to remember that a part of the ship was blown 5? miles onto land and that part of the ship still rests were in fell?

The Halifax explosion is kinda like the Texas City incident after WWII.

Later,
Dan

There is French speaking Canadians in every province, not only in Québec.
Even though there is a majority of francophone living in Québec.
Canada is officially a bilingual country...English speaking majority and French speaking minority which I am.
Proudly Franco-Ontarian !

OK, how about these factoids?

- If you go to Montreal or Quebec City, be sure and tell them you are American. It's OK for dumb Americans not to speak French, but if you don't tell them and they think you are Anglo-Canadian, it doesn't go so well....

.

Garandman, This works both ways. As an Anglo Quebecer, when traveling into America. I say im from "Montreal" or Canada and not form the Province of Quebec. It makes a world of a difference how well I get treated as a Canadian or Montrealer VS a Quebecois. I notice this about 6 or 7 years ago on vacation in North Carolina. The staff at the camp ground treated me like royalty the first few days I was there until I rented something an had to show my drivers license. Once they realize I was from the "Belle Province" I was treated like a 2nd class citizen. Since then I have tested the theory, ant it worked in NY,PA,VA. I experimented with French as I am fluent in it and again as long as I was "not" from Quebec, All would be fine, What did the French Speaking Quebecers do to you guys down there to generate so much Hate ???
