Fuel Cap on 4520 (another dumb question)

Roy do you have a large pipe wrench????? that might work.
I have a large channel lock...darned if I can find it though! I'll have to borrow a strap wrench from work. I think more leverage is the key.
Unlike my 4400, there is no fuel door to cover the cap. I'd guess there's a bit of ice at the bottom of the cap or maybe in a couple threads. My wife doesn't have a hair dryer.
I had a similar problem with my 4400 after I bought it. Some guys like to really torque down on these caps and that's not necessary. The 4400 cowl is quite a bit lower then the 4520 and it was open station. I could stand on the deck of the operator's station and get a really good grip. I have to stand on a ladder for the 4520 to get a similar grip...well, even then, it's a bit awkward.
One "good" thing...I have decided I'll need some kind of fuel caddy and hose to fill this tank. Filling directly out of a fuel can isn't going to work.

With the hose and fuel caddy, lift the caddy in the bucket of the FEL for height.

I used to do that, but now just get diesel in 5 gal quantity.

I doubt that would work. The cap is in a shallow well rather then atop the cowl. Also, being plastic, I'm concerned the cap might shatter in this frigid weather.

Why did you give up on the caddy?

Roy can you lift the hood then you should be able to get at it.

What year is it? I thought all the open stations had a fuel door.
Do you have a picture?

Why did you give up on the caddy?

Turns out I made one that was 30 gal. Had quick connect hose, nozzle, and all the intentions to fill it sitting on a trailer and then lifting it in the FEL, as I mentioned.
But in the long run, the 5 gal No-Spill cans came into my life, and just turned out to be simpler after getting the diesel 455 lawn tractor. Both seem to run a long time the way I use them on 5 gal of fuel. So the caddy just sits in storage. All painted yellow, with diesel stenciled on the end to be legal. Toss the No-Spill can in the SUV (don't have to hook up the trailer, or have the FEL attached, etc. ) and keep 5 gal in reserve.

Didn't use but about 3-4 gal of fuel to remove these logs from the woods and stack them up the last couple weeks. Going to make some ash firewood.

Here's the caddy I use for gasoline, but I believe they make ones for diesel too.

I throw a rope over my overhead door track and lift it high enough to use gravity feed to my mowers/cars, etc.

When you get the cap off try tightening it just one click. You could spray Teflon, or ArmorAll, or copious amounts of WD on both the inside of the cap and the tank fill spout threads, to improve removal.

I'm trying to get the fuel cap off the 4520. It's tight...real tight. I couldn't get it to budge even after tapping it (lightly) with a dead blow mallet.
Am I missing something here? The manual doesn't go into any detail...and I'm guessing it might be frozen.
Roy is this the older type 4520- or the new Utility type. where the cap is below the surface level and all plastic.
If new Utility maybe cross threaded. just brute force may loosen.
