How much light comes out of the Cree 60W? Is it the same as a 60W incandescent?

Google search says that the LED 60 watt equivalent uses about 10 watts to make 800 lumens. More Google searches say a standard incandescent 60 watt lamp produces about 860 lumens.

The "warm white" ones seem to make about the same amount of light as a standard 60 watt, but the "daylight" ones seem much brighter to me. It is a much whiter light, not as yellow. The 82 year old mother in law that lives with us really liked the "daylight" version of the Cree bulb. I think as your eyes get older and "dimmer" with cataracts etc. it seems they respond to that brilliant white light better.

I guess you're right about "older". I like the "daylight" versions, although my wife hasn't decided for sure yet. She's accustomed to "soft white". Home Depot (at least the one in Denton) has a set up with all 3 burning so you can kind of see the difference before you buy.

Yeah I put one of the Cree 60 watts in the "daylight" version in my reading lap by my chair, replacing a 3 way with up to 150 watt setting, and I think the 60 watt "daylight" is as bright or brighter than the 150 watt setting on "soft white" incandescent bulb. Not to mention saving about 141 watts of electricity.

In the ad it says it is a 2700K bulb. Daylight bulbs are usually a 5000K bulb. 4100K is a very nice white and is very good for a reading lamp. I beleive they are getting rid of these 2700K bulbs for the new improved 4100K or 5000K bulbs.

They have both models, "soft white" and "daylight" The soft white are about a dollar cheaper than the "daylight" . The LED's are more yellow.

My concern with these lights is that they aren't bright enough.

For Moms overhead table reading lamp I had a 150W GE reading lamp which she liked a lot... I swapped it with a CREE indoor Floodlight and she says it is just as good... huge saving in electricity right there.

And these, apparently put out less heat than incandescent?

Is soft white or daylight brighter?
