Red rectangular button on the left is hazards, below that a red round emergency cut off.

PTO is the yellow button on the right hand side. Alongside that and just out of view is the PTO soft start.

The one feature that is a bit different for a HST tractor is that orange booted shuttle lever on the left of the steering column. I know lots of you are fans of twin independant forward and reverse foot pedals or Kubota treddles and this will cause some head shaking. For me this shuttle lever approach to HST direction changing, together with the single foot pedal, makes it really easy to use with the loader. No need to move my foot off the pedal, just flick the lever to change direction.

Who knows, some day most HST compacts could go this way, with twin pedals being an optional extra.;)

Loading pics is slow - will try again tomorrow for Tom.

That's really strange for HST ... Almost like the CVT on the NH/Shibaura BOOMER 30x0 tractors. That Iseki IS HST and not CVT, right?

. . .

PTO soft start is something I wish more manufacturers would do. It just makes so much sense.

They've been doing it on electric motors (in woodworking routers and such) for a long time, and it makes even more sense on something like a PTO where engaging the PTO at full rpm is potentially damaging to the tractor and, at best, causes undue stress and wear.

I had an issue breaking shear bolts almost every time I engaged the pto on my brush hog with my MF 1529. Found out about the soft start and asked the dealer if they would install one for me under warranty because Massey/Iseki puts them on standard on the next size up from the 1529. I explained if you need it on a 33hp (I think 1533 is the next size but could be wrong) why not a 29hp. Haven't broke a shear bolt since, it works great. Oh and yes I was starting the brush hog at low RPM.

That really sorta blurs the line between HST and hydraulic shuttle. I suppose the main differences one would notice in operation would be (a) the hydraulic shuttle would probably have a little more power given the same size tractor, and (b) the HST version would stop when you let off the pedal vs. the hydraulic shuttle needing to be braked to stop its forward or backward motion.

Hmmm. That's interesting that it can be added after-the-fact.

Right, I hate engaging my brush hog PTO when the blades are folded.
