I like the 3-point quick hitches with 7/8" lower hooks in conjunction with a hydraulink top link. A Speeco Cat I quick hitch #HF141160 for $200 is perfect for tractors under 40hp. The hydraulink top link ($200) allows you to extend and retract the top link from the seat of most small tractors. Quick hitches work best if you can lead with the top hook and allow it to fold back as you line up the lower hooks. The hydraulink makes this quick and easy. You won't be disappointed.

Most major implement manufacturers make their current products quick hitch ready. For instance, all new Woods implements will fit a standard quick hitch.

Are you guys saying that there are QHs that don't require bushings on the lift pins? In other words, the slot on the QH is made to accept a 7/8" pin? I wish mine were that way. I have a small fortune in the bushings. They're either $35 at TSC or $13 + $8 S&H at Northern tool. I just bought 3 sets (only needed one more set) and they're on my porch right now. Bought 3 to save on shipping. The "i'll use them eventually" philosophy.

This is the Speeco E-hitch versus the Speeco "Cat 1"?

The one our Fleet Farm sells I swore took the bushings (which they sell), but now I'm not sure as it's only $200.

Partspring... You said the Speeco e hitch is "perfect for tractors under 40 HP." Speeco rates it to 50 HP.
I just bought one for my DS4510... Are you suggesting that Speeco is wrong in their ratings? Hope I don't have reason to regret my choice.

Mine takes bushings, but I wish I knew about ones that didn't. I don't understand why they are designed to take bushings.. Seems like a racket!!

I did a bit more poking around the net last night & found that there is very little difference between the regular Speeco CAT 1 hitch & their "economy" model.
The size is the same. The weight is the same. For some reason the top link extension accessory is different. The only big difference that I could see is the "E" version doesn't need bushings to adapt to cat 1 implements.
According to Ted at EA, (check out the video) the economy version is a bit fussier to line up when connecting an attachment. Otherwise, there is no difference.

Maybe a racket, but the standard for quick hitch dimensions and pin sizes is an international standard maintained by the American Society of Agriculture Engineers. I think the logic was to consolidate all implement pin sizes to Category III but I'm not sure why that makes sense since the horizontal pin spacing still varies by Category.
