PapaPerk - Thanks. That's probably what I'm going to do - take it to the dealer. I think I've ruled out all the "easy" stuff at this point. I'll do a compression test (given that I have access to compression test gauges), but beyond that, I'm at a loss. I wanted to make sure there wasn't something else I was missing before spending the $$$ at the dealer.

Isn't there a way to fiddle with some solenoid valve on these transmissions or is that related to the hard shifting?

I know I've read about turning a jam nut and loosening something a turn or three. I'm on my phone, makes a search a bit more difficult...

It's something I need to look in to for my own 900. The engine never bogs down even on a steep hill, the transmission is what stalls out regardless of how I have the go pedal.

Thanks. That's another thing to look at before a trip to the dealer. I found this article on the jam nut and will keep searching.

"If you adjust the hst servo to make it a little more agressive, in low range your rtv will spin all 4 tires under a heavy load. The servo is the black valve on top of the transmission at the rear. On the drivers side of the valve there is a flathead screw with a jam nut that adjusts how responsive the hst is. Screw it in makes it more aggressive, out makes it less. The more aggressive it is, the more it will load the engine down and get power to the ground, but too much will just bog out the motor and you will have to back out of the pedal so that the engine does not stall on a hill.

Its a really easy adjustment, if you need any more help let me know. "

Yes, that seems to be what I've seen before. I'm going to try mine today.

Ok, adjusted mine a 1/2 turn in and made a test run. Then another 1/2 turn, repeat, until it bottomed out. A total of about 3 1/2 full turns in.

I can not tell any difference.

I hope you have better results.

DT86, if you chain your RTV to an immovable object, in low does it spin the tires...how about 4wd??

Does chaining it to my Mother-in-Law count? Just Kidding. :)

I've never seen my RTV spin the tires, even in dirt when the arena drag is stuck down deep. If I can get it to spin the tires, I'd be happy.
I'll definitely have to try this out.

Are we talking on pavement or dirt?

My RTV wouldn't even consider spinning the tires - whether on dirt or on pavement. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to adjust the servo screw yet. I will get to that soon.

Would the expectation be that it has the power to spin all 4 wheels in 4WD with the differential lock pedal pressed on both dirt and pavement? That would be fantastic. I'll tweak the servo screw and work my way through 2WD, 4WD, 4WD with differential locked on dirt and pavement if needed.
