Oil & Fuel Fuel additive

   / Fuel additive #11
When really cold, Mix a bit of Unleaded gas in with the diesel. (Kerosene, if your chicken) In the Artic, I've heard a of 50/50 mix, but I've never added more than %5.

I use additives like PS white & 911 also.

I add NOTHING to my fuel, ever... and I have NO fuel problems at all, same for my farmer neighbor, my brother and my other farmer friends...

I just don't understand all this "have to add" attitude on this site...

You most likely run your equipment enough to were its not needed... Its when something sits is when its needed. Here in Tx if its needed more often than not because of high humidity levels and equipment will gather water from condensation in no time

The only additive for a fuel tank is IPA to absorb water from condensation. If there are any other problems it's because you bought the wrong fuel.

My dozer can sit for a month or more at a time, longer in the winter... My loader tractor get's used all winter... Three other tractors of my most used, two get used only in the summer, the other sits "most" of the winter and then used occasionally year around.

Either you buy good clean "winter" fuel or you don't! period! IF you do, you don't need additives.

Agree but low quality fuel is getting so common that some do not have the availability of quality fuel around them.... so this is were additive helps.

How do you know if the quality of the fuel is not good?

The service manager told me they had 3 injection pumps fail last year alone. Mahindra refused to warranty them due to inadequate lubrication but the dealer stepped in and took care of them anyway.

Supposedly it isn't the sulfur in the diesel that was providing the lubricity but the process to remove the sulfur makes the new low sulfur diesel have less lubricity. I am not a chemical engineer nor an expert in the field but I've been told that by several people who know more than I do.

I add the cheap walmart tcw3 two stroke oil to my fuel at one oz per gallon. The motor sounds smoother and hopefully should add the lubrication that modern diesel fuel is missing.

When I lived in Alaska, most folks I knew, ran #1 diesel in the winter and added 2 stroke oil to it so it would lube better, as #1 has no wax in it for lube... It would get -40F there and no one had any problems at all with the oil/#1 mix, or any problems with gelling either...
