Considering the number of drunk drivers that are repeat offenders (I saw way too many cases in my year on the Grand Jury), I'm in favor of making it a mandatory death penalty for any drunk driver who kills someone. And I'd have anyone who has a second conviction of DUI get a mandatory lifetime sentence of Anabuse; and it's just too bad if they happen to be allergic to it.
I express the same good will sentiments for your boy and am heart broken for the people who lost their child. If we are going to allow public drinking, then we need to get much harder on those who abuse it.
Jeje sorry to hear about your son's accident my prayers for him, your family and the family of the lost passenger. Over the last 40 years I have witnessed more than my share of pain caused by drunk drivers. But the harder organizations such as MADD, police officers and the courts try to take drunks off of the road defense attorneys and legislators make it harder. I hope for a full recovery for your son and emotional support for the loss of his passenger.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. He is asleep next to me now and had time to check in. Nights are difficult because he gets a little confused and agitated. The brain is a crazy piece of hardware. Looking forward to another day tomorrow. I finally saw the car today for the first time. It brought tears to my eyes knowing what they all went through. I have had thoughts of putting it on a trailer and parking it on school lots for a reminder about driving impaired.
Wow Jeje! Just saw this. Praying for you and the others involved now. Keep us posted for sure.
One of my former bosses lost his job when he didn't show up for work for a week. We found out he was serving 60 days for his 3rd DUI. He also had another, his 4th, that he hadn't been to court on yet. It's a sickness.
