Kubota, Kioti quotes

You missed the point, I wanted a straight up tractor, not a trans-gender BMW. I looked real hard at the Grand L's, and kept eye balling the MX sitting next to them. I just didn't see the need for all the gizmo's and doo dads. Like I said earlier, I could have written a check for $45 grand, but I just really liked the MX better. Is it stronger?. I don't know, Is it prettier?, probably not, Is it a beast?, yes.

This is what you said:

I choose my MX 5100 over the Grand series because I wanted a work horse, not a tractor for my wife. I had an open check book to buy what I wanted, price was not an object. The MX was a lot more tractor

So ... what makes the MX a "work horse" over the Grand L ? What makes it "a lot more tractor" than the Grand L ?

I don't know why I bother, but look up the specs on an MX5100 and equivalent Grand L and explain to me how an MX or even a GL is a "beast", I've operated a few tractors and even my old Massey Ferguson 375 will drag any MX or GL all over the farm. I run my L5740 more than my other tractors and in no way, in my opinion is any MX or GL a "beast".

Some folks don't know, or care about specifications, or so it seems. They're sure that their personal tractor choice walks on water, so everything else is junk. Unfortunately, constantly grinding that particular axe has been killing a lot of threads lately.

You are right TripleR, they aren't a "beastly" at all, they'll get the job done but aren't built anything like the IH 574 we used to have or the MF 375 you have. Like your L5740 the L3940 here is run more than anything here, daily for for feeding the herd.

YEP! I could chain an MX or my DK (maybe both) to the back of my international and still get the job done in a timely manner!

Having pride in ownership is a good thing but being able to promote your choice with facts is much more productive to this board. In all honesty I have no problem with someone calling their machine a beast or anything of the nature but when someone makes a claim of how great something is they should at least be able to give some factual information to back up their claim. Even if it is just based on their performance needs -vs- that particular tractor.

C'mon guys. These are tractors we're talking about, not religion or politics. These types of thread derailments are going to discourage people from coming here for advice.

To the original poster: Kubota, Kioti, JD, Massey, New Holland, LS, Mahindra, etc., etc. all make good tractors. If you pick one that meets your needs, it's hard to find a bad tractor these days. JD and Kubota are typically a little more expensive than their equivalents in Kioti and LS. Mahindra seems to be cheaper in some cases, and equal in others. I'm not familiar with Massey pricing, so I can't comment. But each brand seems to have their basic line and their more full-featured line. So you have to be sure you're comparing pricing on equivalent tractors.

I own a Kioti DK50SE-HST Cab, a Kubota BX23 and a Kubota BX2660. They're all good, but each serves a purpose, and none of them is perfect. There is no particular brand that's better than others. Some people always buy JD or Kubota, just like some people always buy Chevys or Fords.

Here are the quotes I just received from a dealer up the road-
NX4510HST- 27,300
NX5010HST- 28,800
NX5510HST- 30,400
NX6010HST- 32,300
DK4510HST- 23,900(hydraulic shuttle)
DK5510HST- 25,900(hydraulic shuttle)
Mahindra-
3540HST- 28,600
3550HST- 31,800
2555HST- 27,600
1538HST- 23,800

They seem kind of high from my limited memory of what I thought they would be. I'm stuck in the debate over staying away from tier 4 and finding a used pre tier 4 machine. Unfortunately, there are not hardly any kioti tractors for sale and it seems that most used tractors are in the 30-40 hp range, not sure if its because people upgrade to more hp or if 30-40 hp is the most popular size range. There are a few kubotas for sale as I just saw a2013 MX4700 hst with loader, 250 hrs for 22,000. Is pre tier 4 worth a premium? I keep waiting to come across a super deal somewhere, but it just seems there aren't many 45-55 hp machines in the used category, with the exception of a bunch of JD5055's, but most of those are gear
