This tractor has 3 low range forward gears and 3 high range forward gears. 3 low is barely moving, if I mow in 3 low, by the time I'm done mowing I'll have to mow again.

What RPM were you 'normally' using? And what did you bump it up to recently on 'trial'?

Was running about 2200, bumped it up to about 2700.

What? I thought all CKs were a shuttle shift. 2 range, 4 gears, F/R shuttle, for 8F and 8R. Someone straighten this out?
The CK 25, 30 and 35 gear models are 8 speed shuttle.
I don't believe the CK 20 gear had shuttle.

I have a 2008 CK20S HST that i have been mowing with for 7 years now. I always run the engine at or a little above the little triangle and have never had a heat problem. I have mowed on days that it was 90 plus degrees out and still had no problem. The tractor has never overheated but can't say the same for the operator.

You are correct, there is no shuttle on the CK20, contrary to pictures on Kioti.com. Careful reading shows that the main shift is 3F gears and 1R gear, with a HI/LO range shift for 6F/2R, as the OP said. I was confusing the CK20 with the 2510 and 2410, along with the rest of the CK series.

Still, in 2H you're at the second fastest speed you can do, I'd drop it a gear to 1H, as the speed change has to be substantial with only 3. However, there may be another problem. Obviously check the screens and filters, as well as the coolant.

Screens and radiator have been cleaned ( removed battery shop vac-ed out all debris, blew out radiator with med-pressure air from fan side) coolant looks clean, no oily residue, no bubbles and is topped up. Hood screens are free of debris and air filter has been replaced. Oil has been changed recently, topped up and no froth or any detectable abnormality. Could the pto be bound up somehow so that the tractor is working too hard to turn it?
