Chevy Pokes Fun at Ford Aluminum Truck

That's pretty funny when the bear comes trotting out. I have a feeling this will be one of those commercials people remember without really knowing/caring what the actual product is.

Subliminal, the memory will be triggered under the right circumstances.

Loved it !!! .............all the truck makers exaggerate or leave out information in their commercials, but at least this one has some fun with it.............reminds me of the funny VW Bug commercials a few decades ago. Humour is sadly missed in TV commercials these days, IKEA has some good ones and the odd beer company has one or two.

:)

Strength issues aside, the fact remains that it is much more expensive to repair a damaged aluminum body than a steel body, at least for the time being. Aluminum material used for bodies etc is a bit more expensive than steel also but one may get a bit more MPG from an all aluminum vehicle. Would it make up for the extra cost to build- your guess is good or better than mine.

Cynical approach to selling trucks to what their management perceives as dimwits. No wonder they had to be bailed out.

About 6 months ago I called my insurance agent to quote me on a new F150, Ram 1500, and GMC 1500. The F150 was still cheaper than the comparable others. If i remember right the Ram was pretty close but the GMC was about $150 more per year.

My agent is Shelter Insurance. I believe I posted the results of the quotes in the thread about the cost of fixing the aluminum bodied F150.

So in the end this argument holds no water.

Geeze you dudes have ZERO sense of humor and your skins are as thin as an aluminum Ford! hahahahaha It was darn funny when that bear came out. Darn funny.

Actually, the aluminium body panels on the Ford are thicker than the comparable truck with steel panels. I'm currently in comparison mode in the purchase process. My 07 Dodge Ram 1500 is creeping up on 150,000 miles, the current list includes the Ram 1500, F 150, and Colorado/Canyon.

Ahh, it doesn't cost us higher premiums, yet. It does cost more for parts and labor to repair that truck. That's been proven and does hold water. So as more exotic materials come into the mainstream for more vehicles, insurance rates will go up.
