Today it has been reported that all the water Tom Selleck used was paid for...

Just another example of print first and ask questions later... plus the district spent 22k on private investigation...

Just received my water bill... 58 days at 64 gpd for the household and yard... $151.29
How do you get by with only 64 gpd??? That is only 3712 gallons for 58 days. I use more water than that in just 28 days.

I just thought it amusing that they hired a P.I. to watch a guy that played a P.I., and the hired P.I. didn't check if it was being paid for or not first. Why would he? He'd solve the case and not rack up the bill. Not much of a P.I. Thomas Magnum would have done a better job.

Yes... according to the bill it was 3,740 gallons over 58 days...

Last year for the same time period we used 31,416 gallons.

The difference is virtually nothing but recycled bath and washing machine water for irrigation and the nice laws are brown... so far it has been enough for the fruit trees... no big garden this year!!!

Inside we save all tap water and only wash full laundry loads and short military showers...

Most of my neighbors also have brown lawns and they are slowly all reverting to dirt... sad... but, what's you gonna do?

I have a coworker in a condo and she is down to 33 gpd... of course the water bills are going up... can't lose the revenue as a result of conservation.

Heck, we just bought a new washing machine that uses up to 22 gallons for the wash cycled, 22 gallons for the rinse cycle, and 22 more gallons if you tell it to 2nd rinse! So, 60 gallons per load if you need it. My guess is they don't sell those in CA. ;)

I've got the old pair of avocado Kenmores downstairs... extra large capacity... keeping wash day to once a week has helped... plus low flow everything too!

When we first got married back in '85 we bought used Kenmore washer, dryer and refrigerator in avocado green for $300. They lasted 11 years. The dryer tub wore through, but the washer was sold with that house and the fridge went to my father-in-law for bait and beer in the garage! :D

We bought our current house in '95 and it came with a Maytag washer and Whirlpool dryer. 19 years and very few repairs. However, the seal went out on the tub for the washer and the dryer was sounding funny, we had the funds, so we bought our first new washer and dryer ever after 29 years of marriage. :)

We bought SpeedQueen AWN432 washer and matching gas dryer. That washer was being discontinued. It has an ECO mode as required, but it also has a non-ECO mode that uses double the water. And it has a double rinse switch if you for some reason have soap left in your clothes that doesn't come out in the first rinse, which hasn't happened as of two months.

We are fortunate to live in a very good aquifer and we are on a well, as is everyone outside of municipalities. Water is only about 40' down. All sand. Pretty much everything we use goes through the septic and back into the aquifer, so no real waste going on with household water consumption. We don't water our lawn, just the flowers and the garden if needed.

I've been following the drought out your way. Pretty incredible. Hope you get some snow to replenish this winter. However, I've always thought CA was going to reach critical mass of people VS natural resources some day. I think that was more than a few days ago.... :(

Moss; if'n you had to hand pump and carry buckets of water you may think about a different washing method!

Uh -- we have a copper tub on legs with hand operated oscillator and wringer.
