Was clearing underbrush with my max 26 this weekend and had a bit of a failure with the FEL. I was wondering, outside of possible damage or defect, what might cause this type of failure (and somewhat importantly, should I consider just upgrading all the hoses on the cylinders up front?). I'm gonna call the dealership and see if it's a warranty thing but to be honest, I think I'll just go get a new hose made to avoid any more downtime. with the recent rain we've got, it's made the process of pushing over small trees (sub 3 inches for the most part, I have a chainsaw for the larger crap and there's not that much of it) and snatching out underbrush FAR easier.

I don't recall anything falling directly on it or snagging it prior to it popping (and I never had an issue with any of the hoses on my old 28--that's starting to become a little bit of a theme the more time I spend on the 26 unfortunately), and I know I used and abused the loader on the 28 picking up crossties and other things.

When it popped, there was no load on the bucket, I had it about 4 feet off the ground and was curling it up to push some loose stuff out of the way-so whatever caused it, it was already weakened at that point. Fairly impressive cloud of hydraulic mist when it burst.

hm apparently the part isn't available, so I gotta get one made. reckon I'll check the other hoses and probably just get a whole set made.

That is a bit unusual. Your picture isn't displaying though. Was the failure at a crimp or in the hose itself? Perhaps it was at a spot where it was getting chafed or pinched? I bit more failure analysis is warranted. Why do you suspect all of them are needing replaced? That can get spendy.

Just an observation from looking at the picture...it looks like there was external damage to the hose...I've never had one blow out (material) like that but with hydraulic pressure I can't say...

Is it a single wire hose?...
Enlarging the image it almost looks like it could have been chewed/gnawed on ??

Of itself, the hose should take the measly 2200 psig the pump generates. A good new hose busts at about 10,000 psig, even though they are rated 4,000-5000 psig. Weird, especially the damage is not particularly exposed to external damage.

Call Surplus Center or just go to NAPA etc, (quick but pricey)

I might also add it would probably be worth your trouble to plumb in a pressure gauge and check your relief while you are at it.

it blew out in the middle. I don't suspect that all need to be replaced, but it's hard to get replacements on the weekend and that's the only significant amount of time I can block together to get work done, so I'd like to have them at least on hand.

Odd that the picture isn't displaying, it's just a linked image to pbase.

I'm not ruling out external damage (it was more a question of 'what else besides FOD could cause this', sorry for any confusion). I doubt it got gnawed on, the tractor has spent it's idle time parked on the carport. It'd be the first time anything has gotten chewed on if that were the case, between the dogs and other things, nothing other than the occasional small bird shows up anywhere close to the carport haha.

I would think it'd been something hitting it more than a snag, but there's no scuffing or scratching in that area on the cylinder, which would have also been in the line of fire, I reckon that's why I'm a little confused. A snag would have pulled the fitting end away from the cross brace (and been on the inside of the loop), and all of that stuff is where it's supposed to be. No idea on the type of hose, whatever mahindra/whomever builds their loaders uses.

the problem might be as simple as it being made at 4:55pm on the day before the Chinese New Year holiday.

It happens.

take the hose off and take it somewhere that makes hydraulic hoses.. I know some Oreilly's make hoses. they list online which locations have that ability.

You could maybe add a few inches to the length to make a bigger bend in the hose when it is hooked up, may take some stress off of it, if that is even a problem.

Yea I pulled it off a little while ago. looks to be a -5 AN (or whatever that thread pitch corresponds to). Owner's manual lists the ends as 1/2 x 4 UNF. Apparently that's (the line) not something mahindra sells individually anyway. so much for the warranty on a new machine ;) (just kidding, the dealer would handle it I'm sure, but it's faster and just as easy for me to fix it).

I'll jog it by either napa or oreilly's or one of the nut/bolt/fastener/etc places, there's several to choose from around where I work, NBD.
