Tractor
2002 Kioti LB1914
Let me start by saying i have had a Kioti LB1914 for the past 13 years and it has been a great tractor, never had any issues what so ever. When i bought it i got it from out of state because there where no dealers close. So after 13 years i decided it was time for an upgrade and went to my now local dealer about 35min. away to look at a CK2510. After getting there prices i did like anyone else would do and got pricing from other dealers in the state and out of state no more than 1 1/2 hrs away. A dealer from out of state a little over an hour away had one and he was around $1000.00 cheaper for tractor loader and finish mower than my local guy. So i decided to give my local dealer a chance to match the out of state price, that's where my problems started. Haltom's equipment (local dealer) in Mooresville Indiana sent me back an e-mail telling me how unethical it was for me to buy out of state and not local. They also told me that if i bought if out of state and needed warranty work done not to bring it there they would not do it. What is the use of buying something if your local factory authorized dealer refuses to work on your stuff. Needless to say i am now turned off to Kioti completely and will not buy another one. This is upsetting because i believe they make a great product for the money. So i am looking for other suggestions for a tractor comparable to the CK2510.

bad dealers do not make any brand bad just mad customers. If its not 2 far buy from the other dealer and thumb your nose at the idiot dealer close by.

If you believe in the tractor, don't let 1 jerk at a dealership turn you off to the whole brand.

As for what tractor you should look at... That's a big question. Kind of like asking what truck you should buy. Everyone has an opinion, and everyone thinks their tractor is the best.

Truth is, pretty much any major brand tractor is a good product. It's hard to go wrong with any major brand.

I think the Kubota L2501 would be comparable. The CK's and the Standard L's seem comparable in weight and frame size. However the CK's have many more "options" or features found on premium tractors. But if you were to park these side by side in the end zone of a football field, they would look the same from the other end zone.

If you want the CK2510, go get it from the guy with the best price. Tell him why your are going with him. Don't be pushed around by people that treat you like dirt. You actually did the local guy a service by going back to offer them the sale. They could have replied in many positive ways, even if they couldn't match the price, and I bet they could have won your loyalty. But they decided to go the low road instead. Did they really think they could guilt into buying from them?

I'm not one to deliberately go after someone, but if people ask about your new machine, I'd relay the story of your local dealer. Word spreads. And bully dealers need to stop or pay the price in lower sales. I was treated like this in my last truck deal and still seething. I hate to see others face the same treatment.

Better yet, call 1-877-go-kioti and let Kioti help your local dealer see the error of his ways. I'd still buy from the out of state dealer, tho.

I agree with crashz. You may need a good peptalk and not a different tractor. :)
You're the one paying the money -- And that makes you the boss. Anyone who doesn't think so, fire them. The other dealer obviously realizes this principle.

I'm buying a Kioti within the next month. I have driven 4 different models from 3 series at 3 dealers and talked to a 4th dealer. I am not buying from the best price dealer or the closest but from the one who took an hour to walk me thru everything about the tractor that he knew ( or at least that came to mind in an hour ). He put me in the seat of a tractor that was bigger and more powerful than the one I came to see, but was not more expensive. Then he put me in the seat of the one I came to see. I think this was a really good thing for me because it put me in a position to make some comparisons between two series of tractors that would serve me well in different ways, but would be almost identical in price.I don't think he is making any more by selling me the bigger tractor. But he listened to what I said and showed me two that would serve me well and let me choose.
If I were you I would drive an hour to that dealer with the good price and see how he treated you. if you are comfortable with him and feel he would take care of you in the future, and his reputation is good, I would buy a tractor from him and drive the heck out of it for 13 years. And my friends would all know where I got it and why.

Had my local Kubota dealer tell me the same thing when I found a Kubota 4240 for $2500 cheaper 100 miles north of me.This was even after I bought a Kubota RTV and diesel Kubota zero turn mower from him.A blessing in disguise I guess I ended up with a Kioti DK40.This Kubota dealer is no longer in business.I wonder why?

It would be wise to shop for a dealer and not a tractor. I have worked in dealer shops and have seen what can happen in them. If you make that dealer mad do you think he cant get even? I have seen a dealer charge over $50 labor to replace a blade on a cheep push mower. If you have a problem do you think that kind of dealer would tell not get "his" money back when he makes out the bill.
Find a good dealer and then look for a tractor from him. You will be happier in the long run. Ed

This thread is a good example of how the buying experience can vary, from great to why bother. A dealer who spends the time to work with a potential customer is a dealer worth spending a little more with, but $2500 would be too much for me to consider. A dealer that slams the door in your face likely won't be around for long anyway, so write them off. I doubt if many of these salesmen are so busy they can't invest an hour in a potential sale. When I was selling stuff in the 70's, knowing and talking about what I was selling was why I was there- that and figuring out what the potential buyer really needed. Otherwise, do something else you enjoy.
