Seppi 200 Miniforest PTO driven forest mulcher

Well, they do look sweet but still to big for my little bitty tractor.

The dual twin seems to be the only ( or one of a couple) that will run on a 50hp tractor.

Does anyone have preference of fixed teeth versus flail? I assume fixed would be better but have read some people rave over flail(seppi in particular).

FAE told me they don't sell their flails to the U.S. ....

I agree Ahwi is a good brand . I believe that they may have been bought by Prinoth . Fecon I think was an AHWI built under licence in the US . The fecon 140 was a
Rayco 140 , the 250 was a Geoboy . Looks like fecon repackaged and sold a lot of stuff .

I do believe that PTO tractor driven mulchers have their place and many fantastic mulchers are built and used for that purpose. As a matter a fact they work very well but it takes a good sized unit to drive them satisfactorily. I see where one poster has commented rather negatively on skid steer mounted mulchers. Sometimes people use the term skid steer properly and other times it is used with a very broad paint brush. If they are trying to say that a Cat 299D XHP or an ASV PT110 can't handle the hydraulic requirements of a mulcher they have not done their homework. Now if they are talking a skid steer that is used by a landscaper to move sod and/or grade a patch of land I won't argue the point but those units are not designed to do mulching work and do not have the hydraulic flow that is required as that is not their purpose.

The Fecon mulchers do not "work" the hydraulics if they are properly sized. I would put my Fecon hydraulic driven head up against ANY PTO driven mulcher with a similar HP PTO prime mover and win hands down. Variable displacement motors on Fecons are a thing of beauty. I has to be an apples to apples comparison however.

What most don't realize is how fast a pto unit recovers when bogged down. Now as the new mulchers are offering variable speed pumps its not as noticeable but if you compared a pto driven unit to a hydrolic unit with a single speed than I think you would be shocked. We have both and at one point we were struggling with slip clutchs on the pto unit, two different manufacturers told us to eliminate the slip clutchs. The both talked about how alot of the larger carriers run this way.
Each type of mulcher has its place, unfortunately no two jobs are ever the same.

If there is no slip clutch then the shear pins go. If there is not shear pin or slip clutch then the tractor PTO gearing or engine goes.
Without the slip clutch how do you protect the PTO?
What kind of recovery time are you talking about, on what size equipment, and mulching what kind of material?
I would agree with the recovery time comment based upon my equipment but I could not live without the slip clutch as it would destroy the PTO gearing. Slip clutches are adjustable based upon the HP of the PTO.
That is why I ask you for specifics.

The new large PTO mulchers we run have turbo clutches. One can stall the head completely and just back up or lift the head and it restarts . It is set to work at a hp you set . I run 3 pto heads and 3 hydraulic . What is best depends on the wood . Large willow is the worst . The 300 Bron with 250 fecon shines here . Medium wood and ROW maintenance , the 191 Valtra and 125 fecon is hands down leader . Large logs The title goes to Fendt with Cancela or Seppi . On in ground work , Fendt and Seppi . If only one machine is allowed , I am afraid I would have to pick a well maintained GT 25 . It is the only machine that will cut smaller willow and scrub cleanly and will work great on everything else if not abused . Also , chips and snow don’t pack in the tracks . For the record , in 15 years of mulching , we have never had and pto drive problem exept for electrical .

Bill
Tell us more about these turbo clutch systems . Is your Valtra bi directional ? Ours is and it makes things nice until you stall the head and have to reach backwards to restart. I like the idea of the turbo clutch. Do you run weights on the front or leave the loader on ?

Turbo clutches are actually fluid couplings between the PTO shaft and the gearbox . Made in all sizes by Voith and Siemens . They are an option on TMC Cancella mulchers . I haven’t made a video yet but I will find a link . Valtra 151 has front weights , 191 has an 8 inch pipe bumper full of shot an old hammers .Both bi-di . videos on U tube “Bill Stecik ”https://youtu.be/aEPDpeh4lMg Copy and paste this link to see a cancella on a 360 fendt being abused to the max to demonstrate the clutch .https://youtu.be/aEPDpeh4lMghttps://youtu.be/Fi3IFSRVRFUhttps://youtu.be/WGrObja1cVEhttps://youtu.be/VbpBye6Ycq0https://youtu.be/FUSBEv8bCnM

So being you guys are all big time and run these on large tractors or good size skid steer, would you all recommend against getting one for a simple 52Hp tractor ?

I won't be doing tons upon tons of land clearing but would like to add one to my arsenal. Id like to do heavier than brush and up to 4-5" trees. The dealer states there dual twin would do this with ease and the tractor would handle it fine.

I think it would be a good choice . Will he let you try one ? I was going to get a mini forest for my 5085 jd but i never got around to it . I started this hobby with a 262 cat and a low flow Davco mower both used . We all start somewhere . I’m sure your tractor will be fine . Is it hydro static ? If so , definitely no problem.
