I suspect in this instance you are correct. I am just saying an academic center (especially in July) is often a very frightening place.
If I needed a lumbar epidural steroid injection or my gallbladder out, an academic institution would be the last place you would find me!
But we digress...

Agree. I live within ten miles of a half dozen very famous hospitals but if I need my appendix out I'm heading for the local community hospital.

I guess it depends what I was being treated for. Had an ACL reconstruction done this year. Went to the guy who does the most in my city and does lots of college and pro athletes. I'm walking and climbing stairs. Ain't running yet but glad I ain't on crutches either.

We should start a new thread and consulting service: 'Medical advice from know-it-all tractor guys.'
:confused3:

Wouldn't be the first time I've checked TBN for info on non-tractor questions!

FWIW, I had my ACL replaced with a dead guy bit graphed into my own bits and a couple of wood screws back when I was 18 by Pat Smith. Pat does did high level amateurs and pro players and so forth and is the most laid-back medical pro I've ever met (his story of his own knee getting replaced is hilarious). Back when I had my ACL replaced it was a really evasive and I have two 6" long scars. Roll forward 30 years and I still know and talk to Pat from time to time and the knee is super except for the now torn upper meniscus. The only real downside to my ACL reconstruction is that the knee cap is forever-more tender and for the first decade I couldn't knee down. Now I can knee down but only with a pad. All in all, a good outcome and best practices has changed so the procedure is less evasive since my ACL. My ACL carried me through the Army, hours of jogging, piles of mountain biking and more.

I don' know about less invasive. Mine involved taking a graft from my patella and then drilling holes thru the femur and tibia to attach it. I'm sure techniques have improved in 20 years but It still sucked. On a positive note, I spent yesterday and all of today walking around the woods on my land, scouting, hunting, and cutting trails. knees hurt but they worked.

Back to tractor talk. In the middle of packing and moving a house 200 miles and making it to a November 12th closing on time, I checked Craig's List and found an old McKee Sno-Lander 720 for sale. McKee, an old Canadian company, was the first company to offer the modern twin auger tractor snow blower. The McKee 720 Snolander is a CAT2, twin-auger, seven-foot-wide, 30ish" high snow blower with a hydraulic shoot and I agreed to purchase it for $900. The price is cheap because McKee got bought out of business and parts are not available. Even so, $900 seems like the lowend of the price range when I checked pricing on TractorHouse.

I had the guy I'm purchasing the blower from power it up with his 40hp Ford tractor so I could see everything work as well as to check that the augers where straight and bearings good. The only specific part to McKee are the augers and 90 degree oil-bath gearbox and so I figured I can fab anything that breaks if it turns out that I really like the blower.

What?! You break something?! Never!

Looks like a good deal, Eric. Do you plan to modify it to use with your quickhitch, or just remove the QH as necessary?

$900 for a functioning snowblower is a great deal. If you can fix the Kioti then the snowblower should be easy.
