I have a few items on Craigslist for sale. Why do these people even bother to contact you with endless e-mails and so on if they are not wanting to purchase? I must have traded 10 emails with this lady on the TV. She was suppose to be at the house at 2:00 today. Texted me an hour before and said they were buying something else. I must have had at least 5 other similar situations on this TV. I'm up front in the ad about what it is and isn't, age, dimensions etc. I even listed the model # and told them do do their research before contacting me. Then you get the one's that say how interested they are and do you still have it and then that's it, no more out of them. I just don't get it. They ask you things that you specifically listed in the ad. Freakin Weirdos. Rants over, sorry.

Had a lady ask a bunch of questions about an exercise machine, including if delivery was included. She then said she could only afford half the asking price. When I declined she said, "Well, I thought you would negotiate."

I wont even bother with Craigslist. Several years back I had listed a snowplow blade with a frame and my camper on there and had two people contacting me incessantly offering half of what I was asking for either. Both were at a very reasonable price as it was. Just one big PITA

A guy did pay my full asking price took the plow blade (was all he wanted) and left me the frame with pump, lights, cables, and joystick controls

And btw that's all still available :D

I never have any problems when I list kids ( baby goats guys, not children) for sale, but never anything good when I list products like gang boxes, washers, etc...

Once got an email chewing me out for running an ad on Des Moines CL,. I live 35 miles south of the IA line & have bought several things (& sold & a few) on DM CL in the past! Overall, I've had good luck on CL, mostly garden tractor stuff, but it's not what it used to be!

My Son uses CL frequently. When selling he says you'll get 9 dreamers before you get 1 buyer. He's used to it and doesn't worry about it.

I have had pretty good luck on Craigslist. I bought a scroll saw there. I met the guy at his house. He was a very nice older gentleman, and probably spend an hour with me showing me how to use it. A few years later I sold the same saw on Craigslist. I only had two people contact me about it. The first was a dreamer, the second one bought it at full asking price. Then later I bought a wood lathe of Craigslist. The seller failed to mention it was in a shed 100 yards in the woods with no way to drive to it and it weighed 850 pounds. I still bought the lathe. Later, I bought a jointer. The guy said he was selling out his shop so I brought some extra cash hoping he had more tools. He was also selling a drum sander, so I bought the drum sander and the jointer.

It cracks me up when people try to sell something used for more than new. I contacted a guy that was selling his lightly used wood splitter for $2,000 firm. I remember seeing that same splitter at TSC and looked up the price. They had it on sale for $1,899. I texted him then he came down to $1,900 firm price. He commented that I would save the cost of tax on the new one.

At least she showed the courtesy of telling you she wouldn't be there. There are tire kickers everywhere, you don't need to use Craigslist to find them.

Years ago, before Al invented the internet I was looking for a set of kitchen cabinets. Somebody told me of a set in a nearby town so I called but got no reply. Two minutes later I got a call, a woman asked "what do you want?"
Huh? You called me! (It was my first experience with caller ID.) I made arrangements to meet in 1/2 hour to look at the cabinets. I drove down... Nobody home. WTH? I had JUST talked to her.

I'm on the other side of the equation and found that it's very hard to get somebody to reply to me when I try to contact them. The worse ones are the ones without a phone number!!! If I can call a number and leave a message, I sometimes get a return call. Most of the time I just figure it's already sold, but sometimes I see it listed the next day and every day after that for a week or longer. Just return my call and it would be sold.

I have sold a minivan, a car, electric stove, microwave oven, a house full of furniture and my Kubota BX 2200 and all the stuff with it had no problems. Yea you get the spam email, and a few no shows. But for free advertisement I will put up with it :)

I have items running now.
I keep getting text messages (with weird/broken English) wanting me to contact them via their email address about "my tool". They won't even say what add they are responding to.
Since your email address is half of your sign in I am assuming they are phishing.
My biggest complaint is- CL is free, why will they post such small descriptions of the items. OH, and lousy cell phone pics!!!

There are a lot of scammerss on CL.. NEVER List your phone number in the description area a Web crawler will grab it and use it in ways you don't want. Same thing for email addrss.
I too had someone try to scam me with a BS story. I told them I wouldn't deal with them unless they called me and they went away. Scammers won't talk on the phone generally.

I also always make sure my wife knows the address of where I'm going to look at something. Take someone with you and let them set in the truck if you can. It is still the best free classified section... but you do have some Flakes.:grumpy:

There's an option to not accept any emails, I use that. I just tell them to calm me(no text) and they'll hide your number so you know a scammer won't see it. Works awesome, I never get scammer emails anymore.

Yep, they have added some good security features like that. I still see crazy folks putting info in their adds even though they don't need to as you say.

I have a house for rent on craigs list . Clearly states the price , the requirements , no pets , and tenant pays utilities .
Everyone emails and if utilities are included . Now I have a new response , I ask them if when they bought their car was gasoline included ?

I'd just roll the cost of utilities(plus a little extra) into the rent and put "includes utilities!". People are dumb sometimes.
