I feel your pain. We bought some land the previous owner used to let people hunt on. Last fall we had a steady stream of trucks coming up the driveway. Would just meet them and say the old owner does not own it any more. We talked to the neighbor's too. One guy asked if he could drive his tractor up and thru as it would save him lots of time. Said sure and he now watches over ythe land as they are building the house for me.

Best thing to do is walk over there, introduce yourself, tell him you were going over your game cams looking for deer and came across a picture of him and two girls with a gun. You don't have to show him the picture because he'll know you are telling the truth. Then see what he has to say. Maybe he shot a rabid dog that was threatening his daughters in their yard and followed it onto your property. Who knows without asking? Scope him out. See if he comes across as a nut or a normal person. EXCHANGE PHONE NUMBERS so that he can call you the next time something happens so you don't get surprised by three people with a gun, and likewise, you can call him if you see strange stuff that might affect him. If he comes across as a nut, nicely get out of the conversation and make an appointment with the sheriffs office to document that there were three people on your property with a gun, uninvited and you want it noted in case it happens again.

I saw signs on trees and a gate which said "Entry means Death!"...
The problem was that it was about 700' from his property line, on our client's land. I had to go past it and confess that I was a little nervous about finding a land mine or other booby traps... I made my dog stay in the truck.

I would suspect they went target shooting on your land but I don't see them carrying targets or more ammo. But that's still a possibility. Have you looked around to see if they may have setup a little shooting range somewhere?? Should be obvious if you find a pile of spent shells, shot up targets, etc.

We have had a few problems with hunters following their dogs onto our land (they have to wander through about 20 acres of other people's private property to get this far, so it's not an innocent mistake). Caught one guy who said he was pursuing a wounded deer onto my land. I didn't quite believe him, but he was in the wrong either way. In Virginia, you need landowner permission to pursue a wounded deer onto private property, and it's the landowner's decision whether or not you're allowed to carry a weapon. Some of these guys act like running dogs or shooting a deer gives them rights to trespass with a loaded gun. Hunting season or not, that is asking for trouble.

Purty mouth for the win.

Edited it because I wrote "Party Mouth". But that might be a good one as well. I'm gonna be up there this weekend. I will just stop by his place and tell him I have had trouble with people trespassing on my land. I know he was there with rifle and don't want people wandering around . Then I will give him a card with my number in case there is an emergency ...lost dog....runaway daughter....trust me, I have 5 kids and 3 dogs. This can happen. Now, what I did discover today was that the guy checking out my tractor ....who I thought was another neighbor's father, is a complete stranger to them. They have lived here for years and never seen the guy......the hits just keep coming. ThisWGI_0125.jpg picture will definitely get sent to the county Police Dept.

Woodchuck, I can't speak for anyone else but I for one am very curious to hear the final selected approach and outcome.

Please do keep us posted, no pun intended.

Maybe that's the peeping tom the guy with the gun and two daughters was chasing?
