Welcome. Are sure you don't want to have this post deleted, (tractor mechanic) or turn tail and run, you have any idea how many question you could get, oh you do and glad to answer them, awesome.
I'll start, I saw this thread, (tractor works) I don't feel like doing alot of searching, my son says all diesel motors have to have a blower to suck in air so it will run, I don't see a blower on my L3400 tractor, all I see is what looks like an air intake manifold and an exhaust manifold, anyone else can answer if they dare

Your son was talking about real tractors

I am assuming we are talking about a turbo. Most small diesels are naturally aspirated and don't have turbos.
