Picked up a 74" blower for the back of the tractor a few weeks ago when we got some snow and blizzard conditions for 24 hours plus. The snow drifts were more than the blade could handle.ForumRunner_20150210_192804.png

blower and blade as one... see the video

Yeah, I've seen several videos similar to that. The rear facing operator's station in the cab is sweet! The blade can get real close to the garage door, pull it back from the door, then move forward and blow it to the side. Think of how much money could be made in a subdivision with a contract. If you did a driveway every 2 minutes, that's 30 an hour, 6 hours = 180 driveways. $10-15 a pop and you could make $2000 easy in a morning.

Trouble with that around here is the snow is so hit and miss. You may sit an entire winter and only get three snows. I've only plowed 3 times this year. It was 55 today! Couple years ago, I ran out of places to put the snow. Anyhow, if you had the equipment and the contract, it would be fun.

On top of that what contractor would sign a contract for $10-15. I mean a driveway like that would go for at least $40 and would go up based on your area. In my area it would go for about $60. We have the same sporadic snow season as moss. So I'll let someone here do the math but the revenue would be pretty impressive. Of course if it was that easy everyone would do it. The cost of equipment is also " impressive". From what I understand that tractor (new) is in the neighborhood of $150,000 and a snowblower with a backdrag blade without the extendable sides is in the $20,000 range. The extendable sides are going to be 5,000 to 10,000 more.

The snow game is so tough when you factor in all the variables of snow some years and tons of snow the next. My buddy says in no they have changed the way they calculate insurance and no longer have a commercial rate of residential rate so those cost are also pretty staggering. From the couple of guys I talked to it is $5-6000 per season weather it snows or not. It's tough to pay for plow equipment when you only use it 3-10 times a year. The guys who use these setups all live in canada as the snow can be counted on more reliably. I do wonder what a contractor in Canada would get for a driveway like that.

I know most of you guys know this, but I thought I would write this for those who think " man that guy plowing driveways is making a killing"

I feel a lot better now about the $900 BCS snowblower attachment I just ordered for my $3000 BCS walk behind tractor.
