As promised.... the tractor part of the equation

Slide show style... unloading the big log.

My buddy was as excited as I, even offered to buy them... but not quite enough to make me give up the board feet of lumber! I calculated about 650 BF between two bigger logs, last picture is big log and smallest firewood log.

Looking good!

Working on the logs left from the power line project. I have worked my way through several piles like this. Lots of firewood from all the small stuff.

Two words: "gra pple"
Nice wood! (my inner 13year old will never be completely comfortable saying that to another man... Or woman now that I think about it!) lol.

That looks like great firewood. If it is piled like that all along that cut they made there is a ton of it too. And it looks fairly easy to get to. Makes for some nice tractor work this time of year. Like hitting the jackpot.

We cut another load of firewood today, and most of it was hard maple.

I raised the firewood logs over my wagon with the tractor and my helper cut them into firewood lengths. We started out sawing with my 3/8 chain/16" bar Husky 55, but when we got to the BIG logs, we switched to my 20" bar Jonsered 2260.

When my helper was into the "first" cut with the 2260, he stopped, looked at me and said WOW... lol

and what a GREAT saw the 2260 is, powering right through these 24" maple blocks!

and soon we had a wagon load,

Once home, one of the blocks got away from us, so out came the 2260 to rip it, as it was waaaaay two heavy for even two of us to pick up whole,

Then it was back to rolling them over a couple boards, from the wagon to the splitter beam, VERY easy to do, especially with a little extra help from my wife!

The big blocks averaged four trips through the splitters 4-way, and they were down to "just the right size" for my wood furnace...

It was another very NICE, sunny day here today, in the 50's, so it was GREAT to get out to my wood lot!

Hope you enjoy the picts...

VERY nice. Impressive I might add. Got a kick out of the "curvature" of your trailer sidewalls. Nicely used trailer and great operation you have. The better half helps too! Cheers! Impressive Agro tractor as always.

I think that compliment goes to dieselcrawler,:) My post/pictures were just removing a couple old stumps with the dozer

Thanks... it did make quite a thud as the big log hit the pavement. Hope to mill it next weekend.

Dan, Personally I was more impressed with the dozer! Logs were free, 'moment of opertunity' type deal. Not nice perfect straight round logs, but yard trees like to have nails in them, with forks in meny places. Nice haul none the less, and worth sawing myself, but not if I had to pay for it.... my buddy is looking forward to the knots and scraps, he turns bowls on his lathe, makes some nice stuff.
