I need an AR-15

If you're going to buy one id do it now. Not to turn this into a political debate BUT the closer we get to the election and if it looks like Hillary might win, you can bet prices will go through the roof again and supply will be gone like right after Sandy Hook. The best advice is if you want to save some money, but a "kit" from PSA and assemble it yourself. Or just buy a lower because that's what the government considers the "gun". I bought a couple lowers and a bunch of magpul 30rd mags because if they ever go after the gun again those are the two things they will go after.

Since the Son-in-laws seem experienced in ARs, let one or both build you one.

Just my 2 cents worth, I have 2 AR's, both Sig's...a 516 and a 716 both with adjustable gas blocks. Might be a littke more money but they areworth it.

I was thinking about stopping by this company's Greenville SC store to check out their Ar-15s. The company's Web site says that "non-serialized merchandise cannot be picked up at the Greenville Store." What does this mean?

Steve

I am not certain but let me take a "shot" at it: and 80 percent lower receiver normally does not have a serial number on it. Since you are making it into a "gun". It is just a chunk of aluminum that is formed into the rough shape. There is still milling work, to be done. You can put your own serial number on it.

Well, they're all good...mostly depends how good a shot YOU are!

I have had a Rock River Arms AR for several years...great rifle. I'm looking at a lower dollar S&W M&P II for a plinker (which is all I do anymore...I never was a great shot and with my old eyes, beer cans at 25-50 yards is fine with me).

I tend to agree with you here. I already loaded up on Magpul 30s as well. Not sure I need more than one AR but if I change my mind, I will just buy lowers as you did.

I have to disagree with this statement. There are more AR's available than ever and stock is high with prices that are very reasonable. Post Sandy Hook shooting, I would've agreed with murphy.

I disagree as if you look at online companies most are temporary out of stock. And I think it will be getting worse as we near election. If Billary is elected good luck finding ammo.

Yep old eyes is why I put a 3x red/green dot on board. Kind of like cheater reading glasses  Check out Burris scopes... great value for the money in my mind. If you are interested, this is one I got. I am not advocating the dealer here even though I hear they are excellent... rather there are lots of very good reviews if you are shopping.

If you care how it handles (indoors, w/bipod, etc) there are 10 round mags, too.

I've heard good about those mentioned above. Don't expect to find the best ammo (varmint, etc) without trying several to see which the gun likes. For HD/PD just buy the cheap stuff. Any will shoot 'minute of intruder' at pistol distance, even with tall mil-style sights. ;)

I hear that some are having difficulty in keeping parts in stock..They tell me that parts are flying off the shelves as soon as they get them in..
Every time obama opens his mouth, gun sales soar !
