used ck35hst vs. new ck2610

Hello,

I am looking to purchase my first tractor and am looking for some advice. I have about 2.5 arces of property that is a mix of yard and woods. I have a lot of large rocks (3-6ft) that i want to try and move on the property. In addition to that i plan using the tractor for general stone and dirt moving and firewood hauling. At this time i have no intentions on using anything off the PTO. Down the road i want to get a 7.5-8ft backhoe. I do have a small landscaping business and it will be used to load mulch and transport a large amount of mulch.

My local dealer quoted me 17,898 for a ck2610hst. He did say there was some wiggle room on the price since they have had the tractor for a while. At that price my payments would be 298 at 0% for 60 months.

There is a used 2014 ck35hst 140hrs that i look today that appeared to be good condition. The owner said the main valve for FEL was replaced by the dealer due to a lack of power in the front end loader. In addition to that the hydro fluid was low (right at the low mark on dipstick) and and there appeared to be a leak around the drain at the rear differential. See attached picture. He said that he would have the dealer take a look at it. I got him down to 13,700 and that includes a 6 or 7 foot rear blade and a sunshade. I would have to finance this as well. So basically with the given interest rate i would pay 16,300 if i don't pay it off early. I do plan on paying it off early though.

So which one would you go for and why?

looking at the specs between the two the ck30 is a weighs more than the 2610 which i see as benefit. The 2610 has a higher FEL lifting capacity but can the really be taken advantage of with the lighter machine? Will i regret not having the extra HP down the road? I do like the forward and reverse pedals setup on the 2610 more but other that there is not much that sticks out to me on one machine vs the other.

I'd stay away from the CK35. You're new to this, and it look like it needs at least a good check up. Nothing wrong with the 2610. The price on the CK is high IMO. 2.5 acres, you are going to run out of room with the CK35, it's not exactly small.

I had my CK30hst for almost 11 years now and 800+ hours. I've only had to replace the fuel gauge sending unit while under warranty. Mine doesn't leak anywhere. I know the dealer said he would take a look at the leak but that should have already been done along with a good going over so the dealer knew he was selling a good working tractor. 140 hours on the CK35hst isn't much and I guess each tractor can have it's problems but what did the previous owner do or not do to it. With the 2610 only @400lbs lighter but a little more fel lift, I would just load the rears if your worried or run with an implement. 9hp more would be nice but you said you won't be using the PTO. I think I would go for the 2610, have a full warranty, and enjoy your first tractor purchase.

If you think you are going to get a backhoe I would seriously consider getting the CK2610 with a backhoe now and take advantage of the financing. I don't believe you'll ever get a better deal than getting it all at once.

Will there be a noticeable difference in ground engaugment work with less HP? Is there anywhere else I will notice a difference due to less HP? Also has there been any issues with the new tier 4 engines?

How about running a PTO powered backhoe off the 26 vs 35? Will there be a difference? I am going to look at a Rhino backhoe this weekend and it is powered from the PTO.

No worries about running out of space. I would rather go larger than smaller. If I read the specs right the two are basically the same physical size. Tires are the same size the 2610 is just a little wider. Am I correct?

I would think about getting a cash price for the CK2610 hst with backhoe and get your financing elsewhere. Agri credit, home equity, wherever. With 0% financing you are paying for the financing up front. You will have to run the numbers yourself to decide. Search TBN about financing for other opinions.

I have a Rhino 75 backhoe. It's a good hoe. But mine runs of the tractor pump. No reason to get a PTO pump driven one when the tractor has plenty of hydraulics and you can outfit with rear remotes and use the port for other things too, like top-n-tilt.

Agree. Get a cash price and arrange your own financing. That is especially true if you intend to pay it off early. The full realistic interest charges on zero percent loans are simply built in to the sales price. If you pay off early you've still paid all the realistic interest charged for a 60 month loan. No such thing as free money or zero percent finance charges.

On choice of tractors, I'd take either. CK35 is excellent. CK2610 looks great too. Probably more room to bargain on the CK35.
