Good news, I think they have a 5 year warranty. Who does a 5 year warranty anymore? Nobody

We bought our first one years ago in the early 90s. We just bought our 3rd one about a year ago. Can't say enough good things about them. We use it all the time.

I'm not a fan...I buy full pieces of pork and beef and cut up my own. They come from the plant in a "vac" bag (a shelf life thing). Cut the stuff to size and "vac" it again...my experience is that the meat is dry (double vac). I do use it for venison and other stuff that hasn't been vac'd before I get it.

We have one, only it's the unit that sits flat on the cabinet. We use it a lot, especially for sweet corn. We buy it right out of the field, shuck it, blanch it and freeze it the same day. Pack it after it is frozen. It is as good after a year as it was the day it was frozen.

I don't understand why Food Saver makes so many different models. In about 10 days, our model V3880 will be 3 years old and it cost about $198 including the sales tax when we bought it. I reckon we've used it mostly for meats, but also corn on the cob, and other veggies.

Ours is about 10 years old, and I had to order some new seals off of Amazon the other day. They were not very expensive. It sure made it work like new again. We use it a lot as we often buy meat in bulk and vacuum seal it. They are a handy thing to have.

My wife loves that machine and vacuum packs everything. She buys coffee in bulk and packs in smaller amounts. Nuts stay fresh and so do meats. Even butter if you freeze it first. I'm amazed at the uses and it really seems to pay for itself. If you live rural, garden or buy in bulk, these things are a necessity.

I talked with my meat cutter and shared my concerns about meat coming out dry. He suggested freezing first also. In the meantime I have gone back to the freezer paper I used when I was a meat cutter. Years ago I found a place that sold pipe tobacco in bulk...ordered 2 five lb. bags of 2 different blends...never realized how much a 5lb. bag of pipe tobacco was. Our foodsaver got a work out that day. Happy to say that years later that tobacco is as fresh and moist as the day it went in the bags.
